Hah yeah bunch of cocksuckers on there. Yeah I got kicked out. For reporting a shit post. It was a group moderator shitposting and he got all hurt about it.
If you have to pull the pedal back up with your toe, I'm wondering what is up with the throttle return springs.

here is a test for you have someone you trust sit in cab while you watch throttle with it off and with it running hit the throttle under the hood and the pedal try and eliminate where your hanging up and what 1-ton said
I am using the factory FiTech setup for the return spring pressure. I have a Fast EFI throttle cable bracket that holds the th350 detent cable. I actually moved my throttle cable connection up on the lever to increases leverage and reduce the pedal pressure needed to move the throttle. I don't get 100% full throttle, but the intake doesn't take any more than about 75-80% anyways. If I had a hungrier motor I'd go with the full spring setup from Fast for this bracket and use their return springs. I have it hooked up with some spacer and washers to make it fit on the end of the lever.

i took my return spring off it was to much ,wish my transmission would have held up...........

and i went to lokar throttle cable, the stock one would cut into itself leaving me stranded
Took the springs off bc they were way too stiff, it seems to be hanging up internally
I have a lokar cable but untill I figure out how to get this first Gen bell crank throttle assembly off the firewall from behind the head I can't do anything with it. Anyways even with the throttle bar disconnected it still hangs up so I'll have to get out there and find out if it's hitting the dual plane intake throat

I remember chatting about your issues in your build thread and I still come to same conclusion that mechanically you have an issue with your linkage that's snowballing. First and foremost your pedal must be stiff as shit with this setup, you need to move your linkage higher so it has more leverage/softer pedal. See below....
and if you throttle blades are sticking that should be easily diagnosed with a visual inspection of the throttle body.

Did you find what was holding you up?
Not very helpful I know, but I had the same problem for like four or five months. Mine would never idle down and everyone was saying adjust your IAC non stop (The same Facebook group you guys are talking about). Then they were saying i have to have a vacuum leak there’s no other thing it could be and were telling me to pull off my intake and change the gasket, but I knew I didn’t have a leak. one day I got so pissed off I went and bought a holley, when I put it on there and it ran and idled perfectly and I’ve been running it ever since.

If you’re having to adjust your IAC over and over you have other problems. Carbs can run fine on an engine with ignition, vacuum and exhaust leaks however EFI will not.

My stock TBI in my 87 did the exact same thing with a shitted up stock cable and my street truck did it too with a carb. A lokar universal cable was one of the best investments Ive ever made. I know you said the issue is persisting with with linkage unhooked but as others have said you need to find your mechanical issue, because you simply cant tune that out.
Other than the butterflys hitting the intake is there any chance that your poor linkage angle has bent the throttle shaft? FiTech is budget stuff, it may be well made but that doesnt mean its beefy. Take the unit off and see if its hanging up on a bench.
Also setting the idle stop way too low can cause this to happen too by the butterflys returning past their neutral closed point and this will also cause the RPM to pick up. If you're trying to set the idle stop screw too low to bandaid the IAC not being properly set up then you are severely chasing your tail.

I have a FITech on a Roush 427 stroker motor, I didn’t do the install myself, and I love it. Starts easier, doesn’t flood the bowl, has better throttle response and best of all, about 26 more HP! I would never go back to a carburetor again. I wish I had some trouble shooting ideas for you but it looks like you’ve had some good feedback. Best of luck
I'm at the point I think I have a defect but I need to call them when I get free. It starts and runs fine the throttle sticks
