Pushed myself to start disassembling the pratice one (the "new" one) started at 3:30, and went in at 6:00 for dinner, with it almost ready for cleaning.
Took me a lot longer than I thought, but I stared at the book a lot, and looked at the pictures more. So I would look at the picture, then try to do what they are doing. Can't do it, end up trying for 10 minutes...then read book and says there is a different way to do it for my carb. So I laughed at myself a few times. Also got confused a lot. Thank goodness for the diagrams that show what each part is.
Good thing I used the "new" one, and practiced on it before attempting the rebuild on the "old" one I will be using...I was trying to get the

Anyone know what these 4 pieces are? Can't quite figure it out, especially the brass thing. I think the little silver thing is the float needle, but I don't know where the needle in the carb is, to compare it:

Turns out the extra gasket I got in the rebuild kit MIGHT be for the "new" carb I have. It is the same shape and has the same holes, but I'm not positive it will work.
Tomrrow afternoon I hope to clean the parts, and assemble it. Then maybe start on the "old" carb.
