Redrilling a figure 8 pattern 205

That member hasn't been on the site for 5 years, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

I don't think I would trust 5 bolts on that small bolt circle though.
 
I was just curious. I've got an NV4500 and a 32 spline figure 8 pattern 205 that I'd like to mate to it.

Might be easier to just find a 6 bolt round case and swap the guts.
 
Is that all you need to use an 8 bolt np205 with an nv4500? I saw that, but I also saw the kit that AA sells that's like $700. If you just need an adapter why does AA sell that kit with a new tailshaft housing that requires cutting the output shaft of the transmission.
 
Depending on which input shaft you have on the NP205. Long or short....with the short 32 spline all you will need to do is drill and tap the face of the 205 for the round pattern. If you have the long input you can either change it out for a short or use an adapter to get the extra length.

I will add this as well. If you don't use an adapter you'll need to get creative with the inside shifting Bar of the 205. It interferes with the bolting surface. Most just clearance the ring to give the room needed. If you use the long input and an adapter, most of the adapters have that clearance built in.
 
That's good news! I have a line on an np205 I can get for cheap, but I turned it down because I didn't think I could use it without an expensive adapter.
 
I am using a Ford (drivers side drop) NP205. Ford shares the same round pattern as the Late Chevy pattern, 6 bolt round.
 
I don't think it will allow that. I believe it will over clock it.

Plus it's difficult with your front driveshaft if it's short. Can lead to binding unless you want 1410s or got a HP axle.

Bow you can buy the 6 bolt clocking plate and move it up some, but may not achieve flatness.

Mine is a HP and will run 1410's yes...
 
1410s will definitely solve alot of the problem but I am 98% sure you will need a clocking ring, as the holes will be to far off.

I run a 1410 in the front with a 1350cv at the t case and I'm rotated flat, with a HP60 but I have a doubler as well so an extra few inches plus a 80e.

I won't be using a clocking ring. Not looking to go completely flat.
 
I don't think you will have a choice unless your happy with the case being where it was. I tried it and one bolt hole off raised the front output higher than the tranny output well into the floor boards.

So it's either clocking ring or stock rotation.
