Registering a HUMVEE

DR said:
IN az... If you have a bill of sale of any kind and its street legal, MVD will inspect it and issue you a VIN number. If you claim the value to be over 5000.00 I believe it is, they require a bonded title. It can get costly, but its easy.
Yes thats what they said too about the value being over $5000 and bonds and whatever. I"ll get pics soon. And it might not be free anymore, my buddy doesnt want to give it away but he's too lazy to register etc it himself etc so I'll probably just offer him some money for it to convince him a little more

I was reading somewhere that the military versions were not street legal for personal use. This was before the civilian versions hit the market also.

As for the serial number every peice of military equipment number is assigned a Serial number. Should be on a metal plate. Not sure where it is on a humvee off hand but if the tag is still there you may be able to search that serial and see if a form 97 has been issued in the past? Maybe contact someone from DRMO (govliquidatatio.com). Worth a try since the price was right. If you decide you do not want it though let me know LOL.

man, I always wanted a slant back hmmwv when I was in the grunts. Those 4x4 bodies guys make them. Pretty cool. Now, if only I was rich....

I'd have to add a turret up top too...

I loved the slant backs. They were our vehicles back when I was in Hawaii. We had three gun trucks (M-60) and two TOW trucks per platoon. When I left in '93, they were upgrading to Ma Dueces and Mk19's.

Of course, here in the civilian world, one would have to get a cool paint job like this:

the data plate with serial number should be right inside the back edge of drivers door attached to the slanted stamped metal brace comes down along the back edge of the door opening. There should also be registration number which is required by the military whenthe vehicle is put into service. Usually stenciled in on a support that runs down the left side of the drivers footwell. You'll have to stick your head down there with a flashlight to see it
