Whats the best way to go about lifting this heavy SOB into position to bolt it back to the trans? since it sits at an angle a normal jack wont do and im sure not strong enough to just lift it up?

what do you guys do?

and the engine and trans are already back in the truck.

also, where would i go about finding the plate that holds the tranny and t-case together? mine has a bolt broken off in one of the mounting holes and im not having much luck with e-z outs( i broke one off in there)
general suggestions are ok because im obviously not in driving distance of some place in colorado.

anyone have one they could sell me? Im pretty sure its an NP203 (out of a 79 k5 350/350) correct me if im wrong

Most likely an NP 203. That is a very common adapter. There are probably some guys on here that would be willing to box one up and ship it your way.

To get a heavy t-case back into a truck i use a jack to hold the case up there and thena ratchet strap to adjust the clocking for the front output

Once you get the transfer case on the ouput shaft of the transmission, you can let the jack down until the front output of the transfer drops down to where it needs to be. Just be sure to keep forward (towards front of truck) pressure on the case with your hand so it does not slip off of the output shaft of the trans.

Dude i think you may have nailed it. Genious! totally makes sense if i think bout it.....

now for that plate issue....

You should be able to call up an equipment rental place in you're town. Local ones here have trans jacks along with engine pullers for about 20-25 bucks a day.

Yep, that's how I do it.

Does that go hi enough for lifted trucks?

Depends on how high the truck is. That jack goes up to 23.25", my belly height is 21". For most lifted K5's, it will be tall enough.

You can always take air out of the tires or remove them and put the truck on jack stands to drop it down.

I used a jack like that to remove my fuel tank when the pump went out. I have a 4" suspension lift and 35s. I was surprised by how high it would lift. Nice jack for the $$.

I needed to do a tranny and the rental place only had broken tranny jacks. No other stores had them in stock but we bought an ATV jack and it worked great and had an adjustment for angle.
