I envy you guys with rigs that have specs that look like chemistry to me. They look like no trail is too tough to tackle. Since i'll never have the money to go that route, I'm trying to make my truck look somewhat original.

No car show fanaticisim though, to the untrained eye, I want my truck to look un-molested and original to a point.

I'll show you mine, now show me yours. :thumb:

This is where I'm going with mine, not quite there yet, mine goes back into the body shop for new paint soon, rust repair is done, just trying to work out all the little things a 20 year old truck needs... Subscribed!!!

just remember.. because it looks original doesnt mean you cant do some things...

i wheeled my truck for years with 3" bl and 33's...

if i had to do it all over again...
xover steering - a must
detroits front and rear - a must but i dont crawl so id say some sort of lockers

i wheeled a 350sb/turbo 400/np203/d44/14bff
open axles, under powered, fulltime 4x4 for years and had a blast...

so you dont have to have that uuuuber offroad truck to have fun.. however a few simple mods can make you "more capable"

My 1982 K30 is a complete stock rebuild except for wheels and some interior mods.(stereo, speakers, guages, ect.) Being a 1ton, she's fairly tall to begin with, and with my knees and back issues........................plenty good for this old man. I don't do any rock crawling, just woods running, hunting, and the occasional little mud puddle.

Rockin my burb in "stock" form.

1" Add a leaf's, 33x12.50 bfg's, Dual exhaust.

About all you can tell from the outside.

Inside, full stereo install, extra cig lighters, dual batteries, temp/compass mirror, full alarm/remote start.....pretty much everything i can do to keep it from feeling too old!

I put WAY too many highway miles on this thing to go any bigger than 33's. Need to gear to 4.10's or 4.56's, and may run a narrower 33 the next time around, but it will look essentially the same for a long time to come.

hey Jeremy....can you tell us what you did to your rig. i love stockish trucks that are capable, yours looks great. soon enough i'll be doing my '90 K5.

dhcomp...do you have 3.73's in her now? fantastic lookin truck by the way.

Yep, and thanks! It looks CLEAN for 20 ft, when its clean. Needs roof paint, front qtr's don't really match. Really, could use a good paint job, that just hasn't been a priority.

Regardless, it cleans up pretty good for as hard as i beat on it :D

paint is never a priority for me either. how's she do on fuel when you're not towng? i'm gonna keep my 3.73's and use some 33's too. i've heard some guys get pretty good milage with that combo and i'm also planning on some minor mods to the motor for low end torque. lots of other goodies in mind as well..........i can't wait to start when i'm done researching. cool, Bill

Mine is a 91, so its got the 4l80e auto wiht overdrive.

With stock tires 235/85's, i was getting 16-17mpg flat freeway.

With the wide 33's, im probably in teh 10-12 range now.

I've had it alittle over a year now. Completely new interior. (dash pad, dash bezel, seat, door panels)

Removed the passenger fuel tank, New chrome beauty rings, new center caps. Also put a CD player in it....i sure hated to cut up that new dash bezel. :doah:

Body work will commence when ever I get the time, like everbody else there is a huge list of "wants" for this truck. Overdrive trans, motor swap, front end rebuild...etc

Jeremy...what size are those tires? they look kinda like 32's from the picture, my 31/10.5 Coopers look like emaciated donuts under mine.

I love it, if you don't mind telling us, what did you pay for it, looks like a great original truck!!! Alway exciting to see these are still out there in such great shape. I love mine, they are just great all around trucks. I'm loving this thread so far!!! Got any more pics of it?

My K30 should fit nicely into the original class. No wheeling here, just daily hard work.

I am going for a "resto-mod" style restoration on my K5. The interior will be totally stock, besides my sound system, and will have all new Silverado trim to make it look like an original "new" truck. Obviously the drivetrain, suspension, and tires/wheels bring up the mod part.

That does look good.

Mine is stock as far as the body and interior. Spent last year doing the new interior.

This is about how mine has been sence it was 2 days old, it got an 8" lift and 38's with less than 200 miles on it.
