Restored back to original rigs

Jeremy...what size are those tires? they look kinda like 32's from the picture, my 31/10.5 Coopers look like emaciated donuts under mine.

I have your K5's evil twin:
attachment.php

265/75R16 muds on 16x8's with 4" of backspacing, CUCV brushguard, unknown turbo mufflers, DIY4x rock rails, XJ steering shaft, ORD steering box brace waiting to be installed, Rhino Lined the interior, nice CD player and speakers, uhmmmmm...a bunch more.

Looking into going up to a 33" tire for more wheeling capability since it's no longer my DD. Would like to rebuild the stock suspension and upgrade what I can upgrade while not making it much taller than stock.

You are right about the cost of a rebuild. I think that not a bad deal, that blazer looks really clean.

Wow, that things a time capsule... Makes me want to drive down to the local chevy dealer and buy a new one!!! Thanks for the pics, enjoy it!!!

You are spot on about the price and effort to restore. I found my old 89' but it's in rough shape. After paying $3500 for the truck, I've put together my budget and including a $3000 paint job and NOT touching the engine and tranny, I'm at $8,000 additional dollars. Most of that is new parts so I'll see what I can do to shave it but it can get real expensive, real quickly!

I swung by a body shop and asked if my $3,000 was a reasonable number....he said more like $3,500-$5,000 for a decent paint job!

You made a great choice in the long run! Mine is sentimental so hard to put a price on that.......

Im glad to see this thread as I just bought a 91 Jimmy (like a few days ago) and it is so clean I hate to lift it and wheel it, only has 67,000 miles. Im cosidering just 32x11.50 on 15x8 MT's

I bought this just to drive around, daily drive in good weather etc.

Wow, what a clean rig. Looks like my 91 blazer did 13 years ago when I bought it. Blazers/Jimmys like that are getting hard to find. :waytogo:

Thats the prices I too was getting for paint and thats with no body repairs but it did include a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I was very fortunate to be able to buy this, kinda came along at the right time.

My crew cab will look pretty close to OEM it will have 315s on it eventually and the interior will be all stock but eventually the suspension will be all changed around as will the engine be, but I want to retain a very stock looking truck

I also do the "resto-mod" thing on mine since they all mostly see street time. I prefer the interior to look stock, and the body at least close to stock. Under the hood and the drivetrain is where I don't mind the big changes.

Hey love the blazer! Not to sound like a hater, but I would swap the mirrors out for the originals. Take care of it!

Betting those are the rare power mirror option that was available then.

Those are factory mirrors

winner winner chicken dinner

If you look at the door panel you can see the power switch for the factory electric mirrors. Alot of suburbans came with these but not many blazers/jimmys.

No clue.

Then again, could have had an owner like my dad and that '92 Blazer Sport K1500 I had. Not a big car guy beyond just owning nice, newer, reliable vehicles but one day in '94 or so he sees a newer Blazer Sport with the slightly different grill, takes a liking to it, and has his favorite body shop guy get him one and put it on.
No reason other than preference and totally out of character for him.
People are hard to predict like that.

here was the last one i really liked. i bought this one new in '85 and was the only new vehicle i've ever bought. first pics was a month or so after i got her, second was after i got bitten by the bug for capable "stock" trucks. you can see i out grew the visor a little later, ha ha.......i'm kinda gonna do it again with this tr. i wish i could find some pics of the other trucks too.

Yes, but they were never color matched from the factory, AFAIK
Thats correct, they were all black....I dont know whats up with the colormatch. I never said this was some score winning show truck, its just a clean old jimmy and nothing more.
No clue.

Exactly, Im not the original owner so I dont know the circumstances but I like them silver. The removable top is dark gray too like the side color, Im not sure if thats correct either.

I love seeing old pics like that, sounds like we are about the same age.
