ReTonkulous

Utlilmaster P30
Prepping ReTonkulous for Power Tour. I realized I never charged the AC after rerouting the hoses this winter. To cold then.

Started riding the struggle buss instantly.

It would not pull a vacuum more than 3". Dropped instantly. I started checking fitings and O-rings. Found one cracked on the condenser. Would not pull over 6". Dropped instantly again. Could not find anything else.

Pressurized the system with nitrogen. I could hear a hiss under the dash. Pulled the dash. Found a newly installed fitting leaking. I searched through all of my stuff, found one in the 34 coupe box leftovers. Cut the old one off carefully as I did not have enough hose length to just cut the hose.

Got it back together last night and put a 90psi charge on it. Lasted overnight. Good vacuum this morning. Held for 2 hours after disconnecting the pump.

Started charging the system and could not get cold air. Hoses to the compressor and the condenser were cooking. 24 Oz in and nothing. Compressor was long cycling.

It really helps if air is moving through the condenser. A fan fixed that issue. I also set the fan calls higher at lower Temps. Ran it for an hour in 87* (feels like 95*). The truck never got above 210 without the box fan.

Surprised it didn’t pop the safety on the compressor, high side pressure must have been through the roof!

Is there a HRPT "who's going" thread this year that I missed? ***edit*** Yep, I somehow missed it this whole time, but just found it.

You reminded me that I need to charge the AC on the wagon.

Whoever can guess my first run 1/4 mile time, I will send him nothing. Hint. Had it in first, not drive. They flustered me because they held my back. I thought they had an issue with the truck. Nope. Wanted me to line up next to the prostreet mail truck.

I lost bad.
