These might be questions for the end of the week but I’m gonna ask anyway.

Is power tour worth the hype?

What’s better, the drive portions or the shows?

Is it something that if you lived further from the start point it would have been less likely to go?

Are you seeing a lot of the same cars daily as a long hauler or are there so many cars you rarely see the same one?

Bucket list item to go once and be done or could it be something to do again for years to come?

I’m curious more than anything. Most of the time the power tour is so far east I’d loose days just getting out there and back beyond the main five days.

Ditto….I guess I never thought I had a vehicle worth taking but there’s quite a variety

I follow a youtube channel of a couple from Winnipeg Manitoba called DD Speed shop. He put together a '55 Nomad (mild sbc, TKX 5 speed QP 9" fenderwell headers) The drove 1700 miles to David Nerberns place to help build a '57 for one of Dave's friends all before Power Tour. This is their seond year, and he raves about the experience.

Yes.

Both have their high points. Driving with the other guys is fun. We hand out Hot Wheels to kids in the small towns. You literally criss-cross the street while driving to hand them out. We had on dad with a young son on a straight stretch of 55mph 2 lane. Junior and I saw them at the same time. Had to look impressive with a big yellow Tonka truck in 6 tire lock sliding sideways to give the kid 2 $1.50 hot wheels. I was laughing so hard I was crying. We were at the tail end of a group. No one else stopped.

As was posted, they come from farther away than you. There are 2 guys from the Netherlands. Bought a 60s wagon in CA. Flew out. Wrenched on it and took a month to get to Atlanta. They have a buyer lined up in Bristol.

So many cars.
The platinum group, at $2500 registration, you can walk through once and done. Pretentious A-holes. About 150 cars.

Gold group, me, are old and lazy and do not to stand in line, want preferred parking closer to stuff, short cuts when we get in, extra swag and lunch one day paid $425 for registration. 500 cars.

"Long Haulers" paid $175???? for registration and basically get in. Platinum and gold are assumed to be "long haulers". 3500 to 4000 cars.

Get a punch on you credentials everyday and get a plaque and some swag the last day. Me registration covers one vehicle and 2 credentials. So we both get a plaque.

Junior and I are planning next year already. He wants to drive himself in Eileen's Corvette. I have a couple of other local friends who are interested.

A lot of people take 2 weeks off. Lucky for me, it was close last year. Even closer this year. 5 hours to Atlanta, 2 hours home from Bristol.

It should be a bucket list thing for any car guy. Other than the late model Corvette owners, everyone has been great.

I have told the Fugly story so many times, my son is telling it verbatim. We kept track yesterday. 87 times.

I've wanted to go as it is a bucket list item for sure. The limiting factor has been the time/distance to get there and back. But It's a cool idea to prep the Nomad in a year or two. Just depends on where it is I guess and how much time I can take.

I think it would be fun to take the crew cab on power tour one of these years. Does it ever come out west?

Or Misery. Or Oklahoma.

The venues need to be about 200 miles apart. Have enough room for 4000+ cars, vendors and food. At least 2 need to be functioning race tracks.

We did not leave NC today. But we did a 200 mile loop through the countryside.
