Are you talking height of the mount on the block or the rubber mount on the frame?
Lower bolt locations.

The truck got more in n out action than I have. Lol. The engine/transmission was in 5 times. Got it to clear the floor. I need to take an inch off of the top of the cross member. Pan just sits on it enough to not line the mount bolts up. So an inch should be good. Clears the tie rod as of now.

Easter will be spent cutting and welding.

I ran into the engine mount issue when I put the first 454 in the crew cab.

The mounts I was talking about will raise the engine off the crossmember.
I had the same issue when I replaced the mounts and did the research and found the taller ones

If I go higher, the floor has to be altered. Pulling sound deading from both sides, rubber flooring, all glued in, and cleaning the aluminum to weld. Making new dog house sealing surface. Altering the dog house. Then putting it all back in.

Notching the cross member will be 2 hours of work

Spent the afternoon working on the truck. I seem to not get as much done in the same amount of time as 15 years ago. & neighbors stopped by to chat. I did not count the phone calls. Not very propductive. Hopefully tomorrow will be better as everyone will be at work.

I did get the cross member notched. Engine/transmission went in out back out enough, I think Fugly is getting more action than I am.

I think I need to rename the truck. I could not explain the name to the kids who showed up with their dads.

They like ReTonkulous. The older kids got it. The little ones just called it The Tonka.

I think people were just out looking for something to do on a really nice day.

I am not sure if the tierod willl clear. It is really close with the broken engine mounts. New ones will be here tomorrow. Then I will know for sure.

Not that it matters now that there is a solution to the fitment problem.

But this is what found out when I put a 454 in my 77. There definitely is a difference between the 2wheel and 4 wheel engine mounts.

if going something like energy suspension replacement insert they FILL the clam shell and there is hardly any wiggle room to drop down over time.

Engine and transmission are sitting on the mounts.

New valve covers showed up today. I was surprised at the quality for $150.

Tie rod has .0020 clearance to the pan. I think I have a solution.

The oil fill on the DS hits the floor lip. I am going to pull it and plug the hole.PXL_20240402_235002414.jpg

Will that cover fit on the pass side with the fill at the front? Seems like that’s the way it should be

What brand are those? I see all these swaps and I’m like man that’s clean! I wish this stuff was around when I got mine running
