last night i took the tires off and checked all the rims on the balencer for any major bends. didnt find anything out of the normal for older stock 16x6.5 8lug stockers.

today i took them to my companys other shop and sentthem threw the rim blaster/striper/cleaner. the pic of the rim before blast was the best 1 that was used for the spare.

then the rims went threw the machine. it has steel shot in it about the size of a bic pen roller ball. there is 2 rollers inside that spin the rim as if it was on a axle rolling down the road. this lets them get hit from all directions. each rim was inside for 2 min - 3 min dependent on level of rust.

when thay came out thay were in the 110* temp range from the masive heat of striping them. if thay are left in to long thay can get to hot and actualy warp and become out of round.

then i took them over to my buddys paint shop and he is painting them bright white with epoxy based primer. as i like the epoxy primer best for my stuff. we do powder coating with a primer base. but i dont care for the end finish my self for my own personal tasts. thats just me tho.

as soon as thay are painted i will get finished pics and then mount up the tires and balence next. then i will get ready to bolt them on the truck.

and i have a set of the center caps from my crew cab build that were stockers. ( actualy were the rims/tires come from ) that will finish all of it off perfectly.

well been a bit but got my 2" spacers the other day off ebay . decent quality for the buck. was like 115 to the door. set of 2 with studs/nuts installed.

cleaned and checked wheel face seat area on hub/drums. then used some locktite on the treads and clamped them down to 140ftlb as i would want them to stay on and the wheels are 120 ftlb . so if any thing should come loose it should be the wheels not the spacers.

and i didnt have to cut the drw long studs down at all. the spacers fit and left the studs just inside by around 1/2" before flush.

only thing i found was the spacer studs were not set in all the way. thay drew in a little bit more but bottomed out just fine. will recheck in a few days of little town driving.

the spacers let me install my factory caps on the rims. since this was a c&c drw axle i needed them to make it a srw axle the cheep way.

in the end i think it came out just right. old school work truck look.

79k30 4"hd lift front ord hd shackles. 4" ord flip rear 9 leaf 56" and 1" block. 2" body lift for 2wd cab on 4wd truck. 235/85/16 goodyear extra grips on the stock rims.

oh i was gonna ask you where you got that done at, theres a wheels america somewhere in new york, i got mine done at my work at the san antonio store.

I glass beaded mine, but I just rattle canned them on my Suburban. I really like the way they look when they are clean, and with nice hub cabs.
