RJFguitar's resto-mod - went offroad

So are you tell me I need big hp to be happy with mine compred to the duramax.
I don't know, that is for you to decide with your own K5.

For me, it would be a ton more fun to drive my K5 If it was a snappy RPM spinning tire burner. It's close right now, smaller rubber, lower gears, and some good heads would REALLY wake up my motor. I've heard that on big cube small blocks, heads can make a huge difference.

After putting some miles on this K5 again, I forgot how bad it really is on gas, not to mention that it's a dog compared to my diesels I'm used to, even with the 406ci. I'm already thinking I might bring it down and change tire sizing.

Right now I'm thinking swap out my 6" lift for a 2.5" lift, and go with a Weld Outback (outbacks prefered) 16.5x12 on a 33x14.50 SSR. If I could score 17x12's that would be awesome but they are hard to come by.

Combine less lift and less rolling stock with 4.88 gears, more motor, and this K5 could turn into a quick little sucker and be REAL fun to drive.
NOO!!! DONT DO IT!!!! haha im getting 9mpg!!! If i can handle it working part time and going to college you can too!!! lol

The mileage doesn't bother me, I can afford it, but I can just feel how much drag there is with big giant bias tires. It feels like I'm always pulling a small trailer around or something. I'm seriously considering going smaller simply to make the truck a little snappier and quicker from 0-50mph or so. Better mileage from it would just be a nice by-product.

Ok, well at least take a bunch more pics of it now for me lol. :thumb:
It will still look amazing either way im sure.

Well, at this point I don't know what's left to do on my K5. This may very well be the first completed build thread in the history of CK5.:haha:

Who you trying to fool? You know that thing needs a cummins or a BIG big block. :woot:

It may be done for now, but they are never really done.:haha:

I hung a fresh scent tree from the rear view mirror last night, I guess a guy can always find SOMETHING else to do on it.:haha:

Roll cage?:dunno::popcorn:
Why would he do that? He has made it clear that it will never go offroad again. It is merely a mall crawler (a damned fine one), the cage would just clutter it, and make it uncomfortable.

Because they look KOOL & are fun to build.:waytogo:
- And he was talking about making it a "snappy little tire burner" . You don't have to be off road to roll over.:pimp:

a nice matching hard top would be nice. or even a soft top
I have the hard top for it. I am waiting on Skyler to get back to me on the release of their tops again. Hoping to get one of the first ones.

I was thinking more like sand the hard top smooth then paint it to match the truck. your trucks too nice not to have a bitchen hard top. just sayin...

I'll get the top done, eventually. I prefer topless anyway, especially with a Skyler installed.
