RoadsterShop Square Body Chassis

There are tons of middle aged money makers who want a turnkey classic truck like they remember but not have to file the points every season. And new old truck is a hot commodity.

There’s nothing against that. But I’d say the majority around here would rather do the build it route.

I like the concept but not the price tag. That being said after seeing some AWD OBS builds I'm thinking a supercharged AWD squarebody Syclone would be pretty damn fun.

Honestly why couldn't you just use the frame off of a newer truck and drop a square body on top of it? I think you'd be money ahead

I’ve built enough cars and trucks that I wouldn’t mind buying one at this point. Then again I want to build a shark nose BMW 635CSi, and there are some things that I want to do to my 2WD. But buying one that’s done is becoming more appealing.
That would be me. Not the money making part but everything else.
Same here. :D

So you still need a square cab and bed for this correct? I guess there won’t be much call for this once those all dry up

You can buy every part for a 73/87 now , with exception to a complete cab? (fiberglass cabs are for sure available) honestly all you need is a VIN Tag and a Title , Or title it like a kit car.

AMD offers almost every part to repair a Cab . It won’t be long before they offer a complete one.

sheet .... i got people offering me clean 2wd for cheep . how you think i did a clean body on my last k30 truck . . . yes its nice aftermarket is there but these prices are CRAZY STUPID .

Thinking about how I feel about the C10 I drive and how I feel about new trucks, I can see the desire for something like this. Obviously cost plays a factor in all cases, but I can see the allure of the old body on a modern chassis, it would definitely appeal to me.

I like the height of my C10 for loading the bed and getting in and out of the cab. A 4wd version of similar height would be even better as I do wish for 4wd in the winter.

We get brand new trucks at the sign shop to apply customer's lettering on. A lot of them are so tall that it's like climbing into my crew cab on 40s yet they don't have much ground clearance. All the gadgets and gizmos in the cab are over the top in my opinion. I much prefer the spartan cab of my C10. The only modernity I miss is power windows and doors locks which I could add pretty easily. Heck I really only miss the electric window for the passenger door.

If money was no factor, I'd be tempted to put my C10 body on one of those chassis.

That’s a lot of money for something that in my situation would require a sas and rear end swap.
Not for me, but I get why someone may want one.
They make a chassis for front and rear leaf springs around 10K cheaper than the IFS chassis.

I'm hatching an evil plan for my K5 that will involve a chassis and the ORD coilover suspension that's been sitting in my garage for a year or so. Stay tuned....

IFS blows, hard pass.
I was watching a YouTube video on these chassis, and as soon as I saw the IFS I said the same thing...PASS. I have seen Rory with TrailMater pull out more trucks with shredded CV axles than just about any other break down there is.

Another thing I hate about the newest GM trucks we've had come thru is that you can't even start them without your seatbelt on.

If you come across a clean 2wd (or 4wd for that matter) let me know. May be able to justify it if I commit to selling my yota.

that's annoying, but cant you just take your pocket knife and cut the male end of the driver's seatbelt out... plug into your truck and leave it there???

certainly don't have to worry about any immediate retaliation since you just stranded your buddy with a stupid truck that wont start!
