Newbie here, having trouble figuring out how inner and outer rockers come together and how they attach with the floor. I have spent several hours reading posts on this subject and found some helpful ones, BUT, links are dead, pics deleted or not clear. Lmc outer and extended inner on hand, how do they go together? Just ordered the 26" inner rocker. Does that goes towards the front?? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. '78 K5
Thanks,
Blair

Can’t help since I’ve never had to replace those, but quick question. Did you weld in some support brackets to the bedsides/door jambs/firewall to keep it all lined up or do you have other plans?

look up milkcrate82 I think it is on youtube he has some really good videos on a ton of metal repair along with tearing down doors and what not.

I’m not sure if a 78 is the same as a ‘69, minus the blocker boxes, but check out the first 2 pages of my thread. It looks like those pics are still there. Maybe it will help you.

69 is quite different than mine. I just need to see pics of how 2 inner rocker panels come together with outer and floor. LMC panels include outer, extended inner and 26" inner rocker (ordered, but not here yet). It was rotted out, so I have nothing to look at.

Re: milkcrate82, I can repair and fabricate metal I just need to see what it is looks like as it goes together.

He has a whole series where he replaces floor panels and rockers in and outter . It shows how everything goes together just like your asking to see.

Im not certain what the LMC part looks like for your inner, but the inner goes on first( obviously) and gets connected to the rest of the body. I believe there are two lips to mate together on the door edge, and at the bottom edge. I ended up clamping and using cleco clips to hold everything aligned, then used a block of copper with a mig to weld it back together.

You are keeping us posted on your progress right? I need to do the same on a '77. If I ever get to it.

Oh your bringin back some bad memories haa!

On that back rocker brace piece I had to add on to it so it spanned across the whole rocker panel.

I watched alot of videos but none are k5's, the k5 are a little different then the pickups. You have to get a little creative as these pieces aren't exactly the same as factory. But its all we have to work with.

I also converted my door jam to the pickup style. On my k5 the floor is flat to the door seal. On the pickups it dips down. At least in my experience. I'll take some pictures today.
