Rocksliders

As already mentioned I would imagine it's just a lot easier to incorporate square/rect. tube into the body..straight cuts versus trying to do rounded cuts around the A and B pillar...but other than that I don't see any reason why not.

My 3x3 tube is 3/16" wall and seems plenty stout enough.

cool, thanks, I was thinkin .120 would be too thin for my liking, but 1/4" seemed like unnecessary weight. I guess that leads to .188 - right in the middle, duh

Me sliders on the black truck were 2x3x.120. Never deformed but my feeling was on the blazer being into the body I didn't want the chance so went .188

Anyone have any of the tube sliders? I was gonna buy some, or make some, just wasn't sure how they mounted.

I made mine out of 1 3/4" .120 wall hrew. They are welded to the frame in three places. There is about 3/4" of clearence between body and sliders. ( i call them nerf bars ) Two of the cage mounts are connected to them as well. This helps with stiffining up the whole deal as previously mentioned. I wanted round tube because i feel it looks more appealing and it matches the round tubing on the cage a lot better that square or rectangle. I used .120 wall because i had it. I have come down HARD on these things and all i've done is scratch the paint. Not to say they wont bend. If they do, it will give me a reason to make more.Kinda hard to see in the pics but you get the idea.

Hey guys curious what you guys have for rock sliders. Post up pics guys lets see them

2x4x1/8" with door bottoms cut and extra floor supports, added a removable brace on the back because I didnt like the way it looked unsupported and only welded to sheetmetal.

mine are 2"x2" square tubing w/ 1.75" .120 wall dom bars on the outside. the cage is tied to the square part & the square part is tied to the frame.

sliders

Here are a few of mine. Built by Hartley Truck and Tubing, (MetalMelter). Attached to the cage using DIY staked cage floor plates, Attached to the frame by bolted on plates. 2" .120 wall DOM and 2 x 4 rectangular don't know thickness. I have dented the tube slightly but that was with basically all the weight of the vehicle coming down from height on a rock. OOPS. Nothing big though. Dented in maybe 1/4 inch area about 1 inch wide by 2 inch long. Nothing on the rectangular yet.:o

i like the way you tied in the supports MEK5- very beefy:D

i just want to get rid of the rockers b/c like almost everyone else here they're rusted through and i want to be able to open the door if i drop it on a rock.

no offense against dpi im sure they mean well but i feel that is an inferior design as it mounts to the body instead of the frame. i and using 4x2 box steel. so post up
Even if you mount it to the frame, it will still flex up and hit the body so its best if you do both to keep the slider from impacting the body.
