Roll Bar on 1973 Blazer

Why would GM supply a 'not new' Blazer for a movie? The '74 was introduced in September 1973...Do you have any sources comfirming it's a '73 and not a '74?

Rene

Precisely...it wasn't a hot new blazer....it came out in September 1972

Look at all the official revell models over the years and even the new ones...It is a 1973...

I need to edit my previous statement. I was at work when I made the post about the factory bar being a two point. I started thinking and checked it when I got home and sure enough it's not two....it's four.

To mee it does not look like a factory roll bar . looks like something they made for the light bar . the down runners are different

OK...I might be willing to capitulate....maybe...the fact that it has a bar and look at this brochure:

http://brochures.slosh.com/index.shtml?1974

in 1973 brochure there was Sunset Gold and Spanish Gold

in 1974 there is Spanish Gold, Sunset Gold and a new color Granada Beige...

By golly, I am almost certain that the color of Brody's Blazer is Granada Beige....

If so...I have been misled soooo long.....that just means that I now must get a 1974 model....

The grill picture doesn't help either as the '73 and '74 Chevy grill's are identical from what i can see in the brochures. Some years had silver/grey around the headlight, and some years had black...but both 73 and 74 were black around the headlights. Both years got those hubcaps.

Man, I dunno...I'm thinking Yellow Gold....can't hurt to watch Jaws again....I've seen it over 150 times...

I know there has to be something that differentiates the years for sure, but it may be something very trivial. Craig Artzner here is a real afficionado on the various interior trims, colors, guage fonts etc. I don't know if there were any really good interior shots of the Jaws Blazer though.

Rene

No...you see it 3 times...when Brody is leaving his house, then when the deputy is driving it downtown with the no swimming signs, and then you see the front end as the Mayors cadillac pulls up onto the ferry.
I thought I might get a clue from his big caddy, a GM also, if GM sponsored the cars for the movie?

is this Roy Scheider's ghost?

why the obsession with being exactly like the movie?

150+ viewings, I suppose so... :wink1:

can't say i've seen any of my faves THAT many times... :haha:

for the record, if a stock bar isn't available, that'd be a VERY simple fab job... any shop with a bender could handle it...

Craig is the man but unfortunately the wood grain trims were the same in 73 and 74. It would be the dark walnut trim.

Maybe there is something different I am not aware of.
