I don't mean to sound like a a## but why do you think It would have been more violent If I was In (Big Red)   Forward momentum Is the same for a stock truck or one with 12" of lift!!! Today thing's are made with crumple zone's Well any Suburban 92 or newer has crumple zone's. So on older rigs, a big lift can work like crumple zone's. Think about INDY cars doing endo's!! Oh ya the black one did have a body lift, for all you who think they are unsafe!!! Oh, Im am not In any of these photo's do to the rule's of the witness relocation program!!! LOLOLOL :D :D :D

A lifted truck is going to lean a LOT harder (and have more weight transfer into the springs) on the first quick jerk of the steering wheel. The real problem comes from the second event when the wheel gets pulled back the opposite way.... those springs are going to have a lot of "stored energy" that needs to be bled off, and it's going to happen at a time when you are making the critical second correction from the swerve. Big Red has a lot more tire on it too.....so theres lots of stored energy potential in those also. If they happen to hit anything and deform...like a big rubberband, they will add lots of additonal energy into a crash (or a rollover).

That's my take on it anyway. I'd hate to ever have to do ANYTHING evasive in my K5 the way it's set up currently... :eek1:

OUCH !!!!!!!! Glad too hear you walked away with just scratches and bruises. That looks like it could have been real bad. What's your insurense company saying about it ?? Was anyone ticketed ??

WOW! thank god your ok. sorry about your sub.

My insurance company Nation Wide was not on my side, they said she was worth $2500.00 after a moth of calling them 2 to 3 times a day and have her appraised two times they ended up giving me $5000.00 and let me keep her for free!!! Ticketed, hell no. You have to let them make a paint transfer or admit to running you of the road to get a ticket

Rolled my custom mustang about 3 months ago. Top is on the headrest now so I know how ya feel. Took 2 months of fighting with USAA because they said that the custom paint, engine, trans, etc would have all had to be redone at some point anyway so that stuff don't make the car worth anymore money. YEA OK. Anyway glad to see you got away safe and sound.

OOuuuuhh,What a Lucky Man,he was...

You certainly were very lucky to have walked away unhurt from that wreck!--I agree if it were not a full size suburban, you'd have wings and be playing a harp now..must have had your seat belts on!..

I suppose the moron who caused it got away scot free,as usual.. I"m starting to think its better to let people hit me--its better than wrecking your vehicle trying to avoid them, and letting them speed off and get away with murder..

This is why I sold my diesel Jetta--43 mpg is nice --IF you live those 43 miles!--when cell phones came into fashion, and people decided talking on them is much more important than DRIVING the car was,I decided to go back to my C10 and K20,and take it up the ass at the pump, after nearly getting killed in it a few times..
..I dont enjoy driving my Contour much on the highway either--its not that big or heavy either..a sitting duck for a semi,or a full sized pickup..I'd rather be the guy in the pickup with a bloody nose, that the one they put a sheet over,or put in a bushel basket in the small car or truck, after a wreck.... :eek1: :(

Glad to hear U are OK, verry sorry about your'e Burb. U are a lucky man that U wer in an older burb :burb: or U might be ALOT wors off.
I know it's a long wase off, and it would be to much trouble, but IF U wanted it I have an '86 w/good body I would give ya :o

i know i shouldnt post this, but can anyone upload the pictures on another site, im really interested in what it looks like, but im not a full member so i cant see the attachments

Pay the few bucks to support the site. It's worth it.

This shows EXACTLY why I'd just let the prick hit me. It's just like if you see a deer in front of you. I'm sorry, but it's getting hit. It'd be worse if I ran off the road and nailed a tree than if I beaned the deer. Not only that, but I could strap it to the hood and make some jerky.

Cant see the pics yet cuz im waiting on paypal but good to hear your ok. i rolled a 98 Grandprix 3times at 70mph and me and a friend walked out and all he had was a sliver of glass in a finger. It was definately the most intense thing ive ever gone through.

Dont worry,,That'll buff out,, :D

gald to hear you made it through OK,,,Too bad about the loss,,looked like a nice rig.

Glad to see you are ok. I know first hand on how it feels to roll. I had a 78 blazer and rolled 3.5 to 4 times down a hill at TDS this year. Totalled my blazer. Now i have a 75 :D so kinda worked out good for me.

Good that you walked away!

OUCH!

I think we can fix it, My Dad's a TV repair man. He's got this awesome set of tools!

Glad you're ok! That must have been one heck of moment you had there. As for the truck, Hmmm Does it have a 4L80E? I mean :doah: I'd be intrested in some parts if you decide to part it :D Heck I bet you could recover some serious cash ;)

I think the same thing. Just a week ago someone came over into my lane at about 80 mph right at my side. I was in my DD ( a Toy truck), swerved as an automatic response, went across 3 lanes and missed the center divider by inches. I did have the presence of mind not to over-correct back into the lane - would've rolled for sure - and it was only luck that no one else was in the lanes I was moving thru out of control. Had I done this avoidance move in the K5 I'd have rolled for sure. As it was I almost did in the DD with a much lower center of gravity.

BTW, the guy that did this just sped up and took off. I was too busy trying not to wreck to get a license number. Not that that would've helped...

I think in our trucks we're safer just staying the course and letting others run into us. It takes a change in mindset not to react to avoid, but I think with anything smaller than we are we're better off. Especially if we have sliders that poke out a bit, solid bumpers and roll cages.
