Rolled my truck today. How do I fix my roof?

Feel free to reprimand me as necessary, I deserve it but this sucks. I will be replacing the door and quarter but not sure what to do about the roof. Smash on it with a dead blow or what?

Oh, man! So sorry to see this dude. I saw it on IG first and thought it looked like your rig. Just glad to hear nobody got physically hurt. Hurt pride can always be overcome.
 
Fwiw, there should be 23.5" between the tips of the pinch welds for the windshield opening.

That camo will hide a lot.
 
Blazer's have basically a internal cage at the B pillar. Well it is like four or five layers of sheet metal.

yea, that B Pillar is not gonna do much.

spent some time with a dead blow, my feet and a block of wood today. I think I can salvage the roof. Door and front quarter need to be replaced.

i know rolling it sucks but really does go to show how important a cage is, i was kind of on the fence about putting one in mine and your pics just gave me the extra push i needed, Just got back from the shop and they are ordering the metal to do both mine and my buddys K5

great man. Honestly I think my truck would possibly have been a tear down had it not been for the cage. The cage kept the damage to the roof and door. Nothing to the hood, nothing to the engine, nothing to the dash or me or my passengers. Never again will I underestimate the need for a cage. So glad I did it.
 
So here is a question to deal with the mechanical aftermath of the roll. Not sheetmetal, but given the probable amount of time it sat like a turned over turtle did the engine drain down into the cylinders? Did you pull the plugs and spin the engine over to clear any oil prior to restarting? Any other drainage from other items?

Thankfully I've only been upside down in a truck once and it like yours only went over a half turn to stop on the roof. It was in an early Bronco on ice. The steel roof offered zero protection also. But the 302 did have a bit of oil that made it up to the valve covers. We did end up clearing it out.
 
We looked like we had field dressed an elk after we flipped it back over. Some trans fluid had come out that's all. I filled that up. It started right up. I then shut it down and let the fluids settle then started it and drove five hours the next day at 75 mph. Lol

Have you thought about cutting out all together and replacing your soft top with something like what the earlier Blazers did. You already have the cage in place. You know, a full convertible.. just a thought. I'm glad to hear you guys are ok.

That's quite a story. The camo pattern does an excellent job of hiding the damage. It doesn't look rolled at all.

I'll swing by, grab a sawzall, and lets hit the yards. You know damn well we could find one lol. I've got yards here that for sure has a blazer somewhere. Good project for the utube channel
 
The upside down "yard sale" pic made me think it would look a lot worse than it did once you had it back rubber side down. We pulled out some ugly creased dents on a k5 roof by welding washers to it and using a slide hammer with a hook attachment to pull them out. Wasn't perfect and wasnt meant to be, but got the basic shape back to where it belonged.
