What town is the actual trailhead? is it Georgetown or somewhere else?
Or if you really want to see Lake Tahoe, go in and out the Tahoe side.

Head up ice house Rd and drive by loon lakes dam and you'll see the kiosk...get a spill kit and map from them...free.
Georgetown in the last town you go through before hitting the trail.

Problem is dealing with Cadillac. Guaranteed scraping there.

The thing is, its not much of the rubicon on that gravel trail in. Just the couple of ponds and gravel until you get to observation point then it's Cadillac. The loon side will have more traffic but at least making it to Ellis would be fun.
Yep absolutely, I go up and fish those ponds during the summer from the Tahoe side.
I just wouldn't want to skip the lake if I came all that way.

I just saw that its rubithon during the time you plan to go. Its an all toyota event but I dont know if thats a no go for other types of trucks. Lools like a good 250 rigs that weekend lol.

I'll look into whether or not you have to be with them to be on the trail. I think you could go because jeep jamboree is really the only shut down.
On second thought, if there's going to be that many people, maybe I should flip my plans and go closer to the end of my trip. The reason I like wheeling is to get away from crowds and noise, and there's going to be that many Toyota's on the trail, it's inevitable there will be lots of beer at night and plenty of noise. And crowds. And I would be perfectly miserable.
