I know the plugs and wire connections are mid 70s. That's how I dated the frame. The plug back where the taillight harness plugs in is the round rubber one. And the ones under the hood for the wiper motor that come off of the chassis side of the firewall plug are the wide flat ones.

Sounds like a K20 cab on a K10 frame with an axle swap. These trucks are like legos....
Frame horns will tell you the generation of the frame however the frame is stamped with a year on the outside of the frame near the front cab mount.

Yeah. When I was searching for ways to I'd the frame that's all I came up with. I searched quite a few places and then off Google too. That's the only place anyone mentioned numbers at all on the frame... Few mentioned somewhere else on the frame. But not that spot

Side note... I never knew why the front part of the front fender was called the fang until I cut mine lol.

when you start with a bare frame in your garage, fully box it and build from it you know about every little mark on it. In fact the year stamp is also on the passenger side in the same spot as the driverside.
I knew when I took it apart that I should have seen the spiders through some slots or holes.... But all I had was mesh like vents. So I wasnt sure. I really hope my pinion pilot bearing didn't destroy it's internals..

I got the pinion all back together. Not guaranteed perfect. But way better than it was lol... I think it's set pretty good. Right at 30 inlb preload. Now I gotta get the housing cleaned up, change the carrier bearings, install the pilot bearing, reinstall the pinion, and set backlash. After watching videos of it my wife asked if she could help do it all 
. She also asked when she gets to use the plasma again, so I guess it's about time to start working lol.
I bought a cart to modify for my Tubing bender. Hopefully I can get that done here soon too.

Wish I could find an open carrier and afford a Detroit locker right now... But then I'd like to have 4.56s or 4.88s too... So i guess the govlock will be ok for now. Snow and mud wheeling with the family onboard is all I'm seeing for wheeling in the near future.

My 78 has a 3.73 open in it. Next year if I’m feeling ambitious I’ll bet we could swap carriers around!
