Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

The later one is the one you want.

The best set up is the Chevy trans with a Dodge bell and input. You need an adapter to mount a 205, well at least mine did, but with the Chevy trans it will take the 205 that you already have.

The only other issue with the Chevy trans is as far as I know they do not make a fix for the fifth gear nut. So you weld it, no biggy but the Dodges you can get a new shaft and stuff.

 :D

well, just did the measure for the bed tube... looks like I'm gonna call in 6 sticks of 2", 3 sticks of 1.5" and a 1/2 stick of 1.75...

it should be about 175' when all said and done..

I'm figuring a g to $1200...

oh, and redid the headliner last night... it'll be awhile before I put it back in tho cuz I wanna wait till it warms up some to put the upper interior back together...

What did you use for glue on that liner?

Mine was sagging so I took it out. Someday I should fix it.

Your looks nice! :thumb:

Thanks! I was wondering if it was in a spray can or not...1 can for a single cab enough?

BTW

Did you see the shipping to Canada on that link... 8.95 for a can 33.54 for shipping! :eek1::haha:

well, I used every bit of 2 on the crew.. so, 1 would prolly do a regular, but you'll use every last bit... nd it also depends on the 2 surfaces...

being this was a 'foam" panel once the fabric was removed, and that vinyl has a 1/8" foam backing to it, I wanted a pretty good douche.. at least on the headliner side, and more of a skim coat on the fresh material foam...

just make sure you coat both surfaces and let it dry before sticking.. that's the biggest mistake most make with contact cement, being impatient and putting it together too soon.

That's a one time deal with that glue then.
If I mess up and put a wrinkle in it you can't just pull it up and try again, can you?

I wanted to use the factory material, it's still in good shape just sagging.

pretty much.... once again it depends on the 2 materials.. if you haven't rubbed it in, sometimes you can pull it back a bit and resmooth it... it is a bit more forgiving usually than say, laying formica with contact cement.. but yeah, generally you don't want to it pull off if ya can...

that's why starting from the middle, or an end, and working it and rolling it out works better than laying it on the whole thing..

I did that in 1/2's... took a sharpie and made center lines in both directions, on both materials... folded the material in 1/2.. douche, dry, apply, smooth.. than douche both the other 1/2's, repeat...

ya also have to watch with some materials, and bleed thru of glue.. that can mess with the color consistency, or smoothness, especially with fabric/cloth based materials..

that's why I generally like to buy the stuff with the 1/8" foam attached to it.. you can douche the he!! out of it without worry of the wet glue soaking thru the material...

Just really quickly, I forgot already... What do you wipe stuff down with before you paint? Didn't you say denatured alcohol?

correctamundo... damp towel, dry towel... paper towels work great...

I haven't even dusted mine off yet:doah: its a $600 paper weight on the basement floor since new. and I have 6 sticks of dom on the garage floor to use it on. im jealous also:haha: cant wait to see the bed done and mounted. trucks sweet as it is and gonna be amazing shortly:bow:
