I didn't realize they were so long...... so I thought the rounded end would be a tow point for a clevis that would protrude through some sort of plated bumper :screwy: :rotfl:

the beginning of the skidplate mounting structure......

as I mentioned, the skid will carry over the tubebed panel theme, same countersunk black fasteners.....

decided to recess it flush with the uprights for added Prius crushing capability.... :burnout:

thanks guys!

I've got 2 back pieces to that framework to do tomorrow.... but I'm hopefully to actually start bending up the 2 outer main tubes that go around the fender corners too......

than it'll be the 4 upper and lowers... than get the skid fabbed up and mounted.. prime.. paint...

I've got about 12 or 13 working days before the surgery, puppy and end of Ryoken's life as he formally knew it to finish this project... :haha:

oh, a reminder of the plate and light setup... should leave a nice window for the GMC emblem...

thinking a pair of these....

I like it, but the first view of the opening of skid plate area reminded me of the Spartan Grille with Teeth. I really did LOL picturing those teeth in your skid plate area, just as you hit a Prius.

You know what... I like it the primer colour. Obviously it will be painted, I assume Black? But I like the way it stands out now!?

Will for sure look tits Black, but I wish it could pop more. You know over the top Sh!t!? Lol!

Geez Paul like your truck wasn't aggressive enough and just generally hugemongous. This bumper is gonna fit right in.

I'm seriously digging where its going though. Reading back through other posts its gonna be sweet

actually, that's all raw steel right from the blast cab.. I tend to pre-prep the parts that way, so when I'm done fabbing, it's just a bit of clean up than RG and color... and yeah, definitely the same satin black as the tubebed.... the alum skid should really help it pop hopefully... eventually when I go dizzle, I'll cut some slots in the alum for an intercooler behind it...

thanks Eric.. :D always know I'm on the right track when your digging it! :saweet:

I really think it's gonna be absolutely perfect for the rig.... same kinda styling as the tubebed.. tube with bolt-in panel thing going on.. carrying that look to the front should really help the overall appearance....

Ryoken - very glad he did those LED turns prior to this project....

This is a good point. The truck is awesome as-is, but a brighter accent color would be killer.

It wouldn't hafta be that raw steel color, either. But something lighter than satin black would bring some pop into the equation.

I think he is on the right track with the satin black and aluminum. Once it's all on it'll tie into the bed nicely.

Looking good Paul. It's even given me some ideas to try out for my project. :thumb:

thanks mang.... that's exactly it... the black with alum worked great in the back... the black really makes the alum pop.. if I did it charcoal or sumfin, it would blend with the skid... not to mention it wouldn't match the back...

Im totally doing front fangs like that on the s10 bumper

:thumb:

thanks Vin.... like I mentioned, the idea for this was a cross between Kert's CC one and my K5.......

alrighty, didn't quite get as much done today as I wanted.. ran out of argon, had a couple errands to run too.... but I'll be on it hardcore tomorrow bending outer tubes... did get the 2 pieces done today......

added a piece of 2" x 1/4" across the bottom to stiffen it up.... and potential mounting for an intercooler, etc down the road....

and also got the top plate in.... it fills in the gap to valance and gives me mounting for the plate mount and lights....

when I pull the bumper off Friday to final weld in the garage I gotta fill in a few low spots on the front weld seam and regrind.... it's flush with the top tube, and follows the valance panel in back... 3/16 thick...
