Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Sure. I just adjusted the color, light, contrast and shadows. That helped keep some of the detail in the clouds that were missing in your light pic

me likey... I'll submit that, thanks..... I think it's worthy.. be nice to see a dually in there....

Now that you are skipping the rooftop ac unit, so you still want the light bar that high?

I just stole your picture as my new wallpaper on my work computer, I love this truck. Big ass flatbed duallys rock!

thanks mang..... I actually just looked at making that shot into a 36 x 48 poster.. $48... maybe frame it at some point for the LAB™

I have to say, the rig is stooopid fun to drive as far as the public's reaction to it...... even to this day, it'll get at least a couple new agknowledgements daily.. well, till being "parked" this weekend.. relegated to the side of the house, :haha:

when the drivetrain is dizzle snot, I'll be giddy as all he!!... :deal:

gonna have to part with a kidney or soul soon, need to get some mopar parts in the rig.. ;)

I knew the AC wouldn't be there when i placed the light.. it's exactly where I want it, sans AC.. sit's about an inch above the spare.. proportionately to the rig, it looks perfect to me...

I get why some would like it over the front door, and i would agree it would have looked good, in a nostalgic kinda way... I just think the "feel" of what the "Baja recovery rig" tubebed design demanded was this being integral... pic in the head dealio... :screwy:

if, that makes any *coughbourboncough* sense.. ;)

All good. I’m sure it’s part of your vision. Probably just the angle of that shot.

Yep. Looks perfect from there. Badass rig.

You should take some time off work and go pickup my Donzi in Chicago. You know, to test it out.

okay, I knew it was going to happen, so I can't really say "lesson learned", but it is time to pay the dues for impatience.. :doah:

the drawers are fugly... had about a 1/2" of sand, rocks and road debri in em... the metal will be fine after some elbow grease.. but the sliders are destroyed, well, 3 or 4 out of 6... plus a couple of the front latches got hammered too... so i gotta call the company this week and see about replacement slider costs, etc... probably a 3, $400 faux pas in the end...

over the winter, I'll be reconditioning all the alum, fabbing the dividers and tops...

and as the parts are finished and processed to be reinstalled, including the upper panels/doghouse, they will be protected with Sharkhyde on the undersides

only the exterior, exposed panels will remain a sanded, burnished look,.. the undersides will all be that shiny coated surface... the drawer insides will all be coated too...

tomorrow I start working on the belly pans...

oh, and as a bit of a Molson Ice post-amble to that....

after having the tubebed on the street for a few years now, I'm very happy with my decision to just give, and continue to just use a combo of 220 thru 400 and scuffpads, etc to keep the alum looking decent on the outside...

that calendar shot basically just had me wash the rig the night before, and wet scrub the Al with a scotchbrite pad and laundry detergent.. there's actually some real healthy scrapes in the Alum currently on the 2 large panels, I work the heck out of the rig with total disregard for scrapes, etc...... but from 10' and beyond, you wouldn't know...

i hate to think of the tedious upkeep I'd be having if I had polished em to a mirror! :doah:  :doah: :haha: not to mention, lawsuits from blinded drivers... :yikes: :pimp: :rotfl:

Wow, they rusted fast. You really need to put tops on them and seal it all the way around. It's the only way you'll keep everything inside clean.

absolutely.... when done, there will be 2 ways protecting them.. the belly pans will keep 99% of stuff from ever even getting near them... than the tops will keep everything "in" the drawers and stop anything from getting into the top area.. the only "open" space to the drawers at that point so they aren't technically sealed, will just be the 1/2" or so gap around the front of each drawer, behind the outer folddown doors... and that's fine...

worked out a bunch of the bellypan details this morn... there's a couple other "shields" that i want to add too eventually in front of the 2 lower boxes (only ds now)... just to seal off the area even more... possibly 2 for the sections behind the flaps too... but those are very secondary and should pose no prob if i don't get to them for a while, or ever...

oh, and the other winter project I'm going to finally address will be one runamok is familiar with... gonna add 2 more fasteners to each of the taillight panels to stiffen them up a bit...
