Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

turns out it was a u-joint.. seemed fine but was apparently the culprit the minute I pulled the shaft.....

Mutt should be back up and rompin in a couple days.... stoked....

not sure why it failed, only a year or so old.. maybe 2 yr's on that one.... I think my angle is good now, but it may have taking a bit of a beating when the angle was worse...

That is good news because it is an easy fix compared to gears or something else inside the diff.

I really should hang a sign in my shop that says "OCCAM'S RAZOR", i.e. the most likely cause of an event is the least complicated.

More often than not, I suspect some catastrophic failure when the problem is the simplest possible thing like a loose fastener. (Or, yes, in my case, the loose nut behind the wheel :D )

Anyway, good news, shame for that truck not to be driving.

yeah, it was weird, when it was together, I gave it a shake and it felt tight.... but the caps must have been just at the right angle.... should of had it in neutral and spun it..

it actually disintegrated a bunch of the needles in the one cap...

so fresh oil and joint hopefully tomorrow night.... and :burnout:

now I want to start planning out when the best time to cut the floor out and go for the kennel will be.. maybe the fall..

a mallard, impersonating a Sherpa this morn....

Mutt got a bath..... after 4 mountainous loads.... the mallard rocks....

I than hand shoveled about 4 yards of paver tailings into the black rig, to make the driveway bigger.... (explained further in Kai's thread)....

Ryoken, can you point me to what page you actually started construction on the bed? Im about to start a flatbed project and want to barrow a few idea. Truck looks great btw.

Whats with the A/C unit?

Also, since you've been flogging on the truck, how's it holding up? Everything working the way you wanted? Anything you need to change?

haha, I swear I've cleared about 12 trees over the last couple yrs.... pics of the yard next weekend after i rock the driveway...

he's got one fetch stick for swimming, he's bonkers over it.. it's a cut branch from the marina about 2' long and 2" diameter, it's the one in his swimming vid... otherwise it's all ball fetch in the yard, various footballs, squeakers, etc.... we really don't do fetch with sticks in the yard currently...

not Kai's thread, but....

here's my FB post on sunday after prepping and seeding 1/2 the pen...

on a Mutt note..... I'm hopeful to start saving just a bit of money each week over the winter so I'm full bore ready to attack Mutt's projects when the weather breaks.... I want to have the fuel tanks/drawers gig, the roof AC and kennel, done by the 4th of July.. that AC unit I posted is about $700...
