Ryoken's 96 Furd twofiddy

ive had plenty of these trucks and like them, but pay close attention to the core support mounts. The core supports are pop can material thickness and always rust then the fenders sag and get into the front of the doors.

but that’s a good looking truck! I’m a Chevy guy at heart but like the 92-97 fords

thanks! This weekend will be a good look over on the rig, and I'll check the support out... one issue I'll want to address at some point is the ps window doesn't work... but for now, I just wanna get the cap and plastic liner off... hate them plastic liners...

oh, and I need to see about pulling out the back seat for Kai.... I wasn't sure if it was a jumper/fold up kinda deal, or hard-mounted... if i can pull just the bottom and leave the back cushion, that may be the best/easiest solution...

The rear seat in those is actually a good design, the bottom and back both have steel sheet on the back sides and they fold flat so there’s basically a nice flat steel surface from the back wall of the cab to the back of the front seats. Loved that feature in my 92

just checked that out... it's neat!

I would almost say it would work good with just a piece of carpet on it.., but I think Kai will jump up front too easy in the middle...

and I have no friends, so zero need for a back seat.. :doah: it's rare I have ANY passenger other than Kai...

so I'll pull the whole thing out and just leave the upper bolster piece... what I really like about it is that the floor is flat under the seat, unlike GM stuff....

Nothing like a good old porno red ford interior :haha:

I can't tell you how much I despise red, white or blue interiors... :haha: black or tan on occasion, that's it..

but I'm ok with it cuz other than a bit of ds door panel hokeyness i need to address, it's pretty mint...

took the cap off today...

immediately noticed the bodylines out of whack... the ds back cab mount is toast... think it's just the bushing, hope... cab is laying on the frame, AND on top of that forward tank that is leaking... so maybe that crushed sumfin.... so i need to look to drop that tank, do some poly body bushings, etc....

oh, and i noticed when i insured it today, the VIN came up as a 97, not as 96.. i'm guessing it's one of those 10th month deals.... could have sworn i saw the yr break for the body was 96/97 for the mounts...

edit.... looks like that body runs thru 98..... $190 for energy susp black poly kit.....

Rig looks good.

It's still a 97. Ford technically never made a 98. They were all labeled as 97s because 99 was when the redesigned(Super duty) was released.

he always described it as a 96.. that's why i figured it was an oct made deal....

I ripped the hubcaps off while BBQing chicken before... might see about painting the steelies a fresh silver this weekend too... eventually if i change the white, grill, etc, I may thug out the rims... but for now, an argent silver hue will be best....

I pulled the lower backseat today.. and am actually contemplating leaving the back of the seat, cuz it makes the rear wall padded for the pooch... I'll see...

Argent would be perfect!

Trucks looking good! I somehow just noticed this thing is a 7.3, it’s always a safe idea to stop by an international dealer and get a spare camshaft position sensor to throw in the glovebox

looking at the brake inspection picture, the cable to self adjuster, arm at bottom of rear shoe, looked broken. Hard to tell in photo.

It's funny, while I'm becoming less fond of the running boards daily, the white is actually growing on me... :haha:

so a last update for this rig for a while.... ditched the mouldings, looks much better......
