well, i was told I would "be compensated"..
but we'll see how that goes... obviously i have to fix it... it's my daily now, the other 2 rigs are down.... and no bodyshop is gonna want to touch that anyway... door really needs to be replaced... i mean, i'll morgan knocker it out, and sluggo the rocker mostly back for now... while i hunt for a door.... inner door is all smashed up too...
i'll get screwed in the end, money-wise and time-wise... fug it, i should stop in and get an estimate on it just for the ammo... bet the farm a bodyshop's gonna be 3 grand all day.... if i get 2 i'll be content...

Don't just give in. Get a body shop estimate, and take it to them. They should take care of it.

the only door i'm finding is in Brooklyn, fug that.... i gonna call a couple junkyards i know around here... it really needs an outer rocker too.. i thought i saw one somewhere for like $80, maybe AMD... might be the way to go...
yeah, i'm gonna see if a shop will at least give me a written #, if I promise to actually not make them do it...
92-96 fseries all interchange, that really sucks.
That rocker looks pretty pushed downwards as well as in. That's gonna suck to fix.
Guy I know out here has a sweet crew cab '97 F350. Got hit recently on the highway. Took out the driver fender and I think both doors. Body shop told him easy $15k to paint it after the sheet metal work. He finally found some good doors and fender for it. Having a hell of a time finding anyone to paint it. It's like a two-tone white and dark blue. I think they totalled it and gave him like $13k and he had to buy it back for $2k. Ones in the condition his was before sell for like $20k easy out here.
Paint and body work is nuts here in the US. I don’t know enough to know why but I watch some European car stuff on YouTube and the prices they pay for body work makes me want to cry.

Yes definitely. I've heard of some near me that only take insurance jobs. One guy has gotten into rv and camp trailer repair probably through insurance jobs.
so, i think i found a clean door locally.. $100... but it's manual... does all the power stuff swap over like a square? or is it a dumb furd deal with different door structure? anyone know?
From kind of doing the reverse swap about 25 years ago I'm 75% sure it works...I think.

so.. here's the plan.... they are gonna pay parts/materials.. and I'm gonna log all my time over the winter, and we will bankroll those to me when i go back to work mid-march... so I'll start the season with like 3 wks vacay.. i'm also gonna sneak a new inner rocker in there too... it has a golfball size rusthole up fwd...

I bet your buddies back home would welcome the chance to get away from there with their families, at least for a little while
