I called the paint shop for an update...they said they had all four wheels off and it was sitting on 4 dollies so they could roll it around. They said they were starting to wetsand...I can only gather that that means they must be finished with the bodywork spots.

You should ask if you can take a few progress pics...
I called today for my weekly update, he said "I was just about to call you".
He said bring your camera tomorrow and take some pics.
I said, "has it got a white stripe yet"?
He said "no, but Tommy has done a lot of work on it....it definitely looks different"....
So...I am a bit nervous...I told him last week that I don't need pics of primer, I already have plenty of those...
my guess is that it may have sealer on it....won't know till I get there...heck...it may not have fenders and a hood...I don't know...I will be pleasantly surprised if I get there and it is solid white with sealer.

Thanks...I hope there's enough of a change that it is noticable...he told me that they went over the door jambs again...so I bet they got those done.

Pics coming...but anti-climatic. He is fixing the passenger side...he already got the door straightened out better than I did and he got rid of that humped out front fender and the door fits the quarter panel perfectly.
Now as far as mudding technique only Ryoken can say...
All I can say is it's getting straighter than I had it, although at a pace slower than I expected, but the guy doing is a great guy, I really appreciate him and his willingness to do it. He is going to nutsert my mirror holes for me with a real brass nutsert device. I just need to get him the correct bolt size...I swear I think they are 3/8x16 but I am not certain.

Well at least its not bad news i guess. And i can be all but certain they are not 3/8" mirror bolts.
Ok...in this pic you can see that all the way up front I had some issues with the body line as it made the vertical turn downward...he now has that body line crisp and defined.
You can see where he fixed the fender bow right in front of the door, that is now curved properly.
He also fixed a spot at the base of my doorsail where I apparently cupped it bending the top of the sail outward...I didn't even catch that.
I missed some low spots back at the door handle...he fixed those
You can see some mud at the bottom of the door where he bent the door bottom into shape...something I spent a lot of time on and never did get it right.
Then, on to the quarter panel where that infamous place is that I built up to match the door...the body line "scallop" was not correct there...he has fixed that. You will see how well the door and quarter line up now in one of the next pics.
He also fixed some "waves" on top of the bed rails.
Here you can see that I missed some spots on the very rear corner, those are fixed.
Now, a look down the whole side...the door has no striker on it right now...it is just hanging there and lightly pushed into place to match up.
Obviously he isn't finished with this side yet. He said he would call me when he gets it re-primed.

Well that looks good i think. Hopefully they at least keep up this moderate pace.
The mirror bolts are 1/4 x 20
I hear ya...it's kind of that "it looked better when I brought it in" kind of thing...just like when I started first working on it...everything I did that tore it down seemed like it was worse than when I bought it...but as the primer went on it started looking better.
