Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

pretty much the same.. you just "set" the emblem semi deeply into it... your not looking to totally fill the empty areas.. just for it to grab the surface edge and surrounding area...

I'm looking for my tailgate band fasteners and can't find them...I thought they were just speed nuts but they aren't...there are 4 "slots" in the middle of the band and one post on each end for speed nuts.
I have no idea what the fasteners look like that fit into the slots...

Anybody here know?

LMC doesn't have tailgate bands for my year so the fasteners are completely different.

Just called....looking at first of next week...apparently got swamped and don't have the hood in primer yet.

Thinking of ways to modify my hoist in the garage to be able to lift the fiberglass top without having the 2x4 on bottom at the rear...
thinking about raising it above the top at the rear and using something with "hooks" hanging form the 2x4 that grabs the top where the top of the glass would go...
not sure if I am getting my point across though...

I need to be able to suspend the top where nothing is touching the bottom rubber seals so that it can set down on the Blazer without a 2x4 having to touch the Blazer...

What would be strong enough to hold it up but not so rigid it would damage the top?

sounded reasonable for a while...rare earth magnets...two on the 2x4 and two on the inside of the top

nah, I was talking giant, bugs bunny, electo magnet kind of a deal... :screwy: :pimp: :haha:

right, I'll stop now....

OK...I think I have an idea...

Two tow straps....attached to the front 2 x 4 that run under the top, out the back and up to the rear 2 x 4

that would put a lot of weight on the front 2 x 4 though...although I don't know if it is too much...it would be dispersed :dunno:

If that's too much force on the front 2 x 4, I could lay two 2 x 4 lengthwise inside the top and use straps to attach those to the upper rear 2 x 4

Put your space modulator thinking cap on Paul....

how would you get the lumber out once installed....

I'd do a dual padded hook deal in the back.... couple 1/4" plate, plasma cut hooks with a hole at the top for the cable.... than pad em with pipe foam and tape..

I got no plasma cutter...

the rear 2 x 4 would keep the hooks spaced so they wouldn't pull to the middle...

maybe I could weld up some conduit and use the pipe foam on it? Maybe just bend the conduit

I would have to move the ceiling pulleys to get them directly above the back but that would eliminate the need for the 2 x 4 wouldn't it?

Kinda like this.

This one probably gives a better idea. But if you formed the boards in an H shape, seems like would work?
