Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

I am constantly amazed by this thread! I wish I had the time, and courage to tackle my truck like you have... Looking good!

Thanks! There are many times that feel and have felt overwhelmed...I are trying to use the knowledge Ryoken has loaned me to forge ahead without whining too much....
I did not try to get the bed perfect because I am putting carpet down...it is good, but not perfect by any means...and some of those dings in bed floor just add "character"...I think...

That thing is looking awsome. I know you are doing the resto thing but it would be a great start to a buggy the way it sits now. All you need to do is cage it.

Just kidding I want to see you finish this thing. I think you have some of the best step by step photos for a build.

By the way, I went in search of a new DeVilbiss paint cup and there are none local...I ended up getting the plastic cups at Harbor Freight for $6.99 for 6, just on the hope that they would fit...
They work great! just screw them on and paint and toss them when you are done...no cup to clean, no gasket to worry about...and they hold more than my original cup does...
:waytogo:

Awesome!! You got some balls for the time you spend and money on your blazer... good on you dude!!! :waytogo
And Paul for helping you out!

I am potentially screwed right now...

I cannot get the the quarter panels to fit...the passenger side won't line up at all, the fuel hole is in the wrong place and I had to rip out the inner brace.

It appears that somebody cut part of this panel off up top at the door...

The drivers side I had to rip out the inner brace and after several fittings I threw my hands up and welded it back in and I cannot get the lower part near the rocker to line up.

Not sure what to do at this point.

The driver's side quarter may be passable...but I am worried about the passenger side..if I was any good at fabrication it might not be so bad...

The gas filler back hole can be routed out up to a certain point or the vent tube can be altered...that's not the real big deal I don't guess...

Ah yes i remember now... In that case, lets just hope ryoken takes a break from playing with his new toy to drop in!

On the gas filler tube, on the oem quarter the hole is not centered but is rather closer to the front...on this I got a little room to notch it but I don't want to overdo it and end up with a hole showing...

Since I can't get the quarter to settle in the back yet, not much sense in cutting a notch yet...

on the top front rail you can see that somebody cut the "curve" out leaving a 90 degree flat surface...proving once again that I got a "used" panel...
You can see on the driver side picture what it is supposed to look like...
I am not sure how to fix this...

Doesn't the filler neck move a bit if you loosen the big nut on the tank?

it moves plenty...it just needs to go towards the rear...not to the front...the vent tube won't allow it to move in that direction
you can't tell from the photo, but the vent tube is inside the big opening

Drivers side quarter just won't match up at the botom no matter what I have tried:
