Degreased and painted the drive shaft....changed the oil out in the pumpkin...the oil was black but there was no grit in it at all

The yoke and pinion are firm

Now I just got to remember what the transfer case shifter is with the Mile Marker in....and it seems like you have to be rolling to engage the front wheel drive...:dunno:
 
I been going to NAPA regular for a while and building relationships with the parts guys...they know me by first name now...bought my gear oil and gasket there today and they gave me this pretty cool NAPA hat...they don't start putting them out until July 1st and you are supposed to make a $25 purchase, but I like getting swag....for every $25 you spend they donate $1 to the Fallen Heroes fund and you get a cap while supplies last.

I'm backtracking a little now...I took the rear seat to the upholsterer and the colors just don't match after looking at the swatches...my front seats are indeed too light.
I got so tired of dealing with PUI Interiors that I will never ever buy another thing from them again. THey suck and so does their customer service. THey have dodged me for 2 weeks.

I contacted SMS Auto Fabrics and they have actual oem material by the rolls....so they sent me samples and I ordered 5.5 yards. I am getting the local shop to sew them up for me...they will be oem true, real material...and they will be the correct colors.

PUI can shove it.:whistle:
 
Going to take the rear seat parts to the sandblaster guy tomorrow...

Will the SEM paint for vinyl work on the metal bars of the armrests?

If not, how do I figure out what factory color those were?

P.S> subscription ran out so I can't see much right now...sent payment by PayPal but don't know when the switch will be flipped on again...:whistle:
 
I got the oem seat material in today...very interesting...wonder if anyone can decipher what the numbers mean on the back of the material?

I went walking the parts yards this weekend looking for small things....I found this great radio in almost pristine condition. Looks almost new and it works. I just don't have any knobs yet...and I need a dash speaker.
Plus I need to tack in a backing plate because mine has been cut out.

Looks great! I may have an extra set of knobs and a speaker around here somewhere. I'd have to look for them.
 
I'm bummed...the dash bezel I had that I thought would work will not...it is a 1975 or 1976 dash and the wiper knob opening is in the wrong place.

This is an image of what I am looking for if anybody knows where to find one...

What does the 75-76 one you have look like? I've been looking for one in a little better condition than the one I have.

It's in very nice condition but needs the round places resprayed with chrome paint. Structurally it's very, very good. Needs polishing on the woodgrain. It was my go-to dash bezel...I thought it was going to be the one I would put in and would stay there. I will snap a photo in a bit and show you
 
There's a nice 1973 bezel on eBay but they want nearly $200 for it and it has a blemish on the woodgrain.

In fact there are several that are broken and in horrible shape that people are asking $150 to over $200 for...are they actually selling them for those prices...in that condition?

You already know my philosophy on hard-to-find parts.... :)

Buy that eBay one if its a solid example and install it. Keep your eyes open for that elusive "NOS" fresh still in the box unicorn version, and if you ever find it you can swap it in.... Probably sell the eBay one for exactly the same money you paid for it.

Point is: for a truck as nice as yours, the little details are important. It's just not right to drive around with parts missing from the finished product.

If you want I have these. I had bought them for if I found a radio, but then I ended up buying a radio that still had the knobs so I no longer had a need for them. I also have an extra original cigarette lighter. No idea if either work, but since I don't smoke its more of just an aesthetic thing for my truck. (sorry for the bad pics, they looked better on my phone)
