Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

I sent you an PM...I'll take them just let me know what you want for them.

I got the best dash bezel I could find that was in original condition. I cannot get onto Photobucket right now so I'll post up pics on server...

The original "chrome" is still on instrument openings but it isn't clean looking. I am afraid to try to put anything on it because I tested the AC vent with polish and the stuff came right off...

Mild soap only, then maybe with some careful masking you could try some of the chrome spray paint. Obviously I'd try that on another bezel first...

I have already done the chrome spraypaint on another bezel it looks ok if everything is sprayed the same...but on this one I would rather have the dirty chrome than the spraypaint.

I have tried soap.

got the new bezel in, new instrument lens, new a/c controller, new a/c vents...radio is in...just waiting on some flexible a/c duct hose so I can put the bottom dash parts back on.

I may take the dash pad back off and touch up some areas....but it's supposed to be literally freezing here this weekend....

will post some pics if I can get some tomorrow, probably too cold to spray SEM Colorcoat though...

I got the dash back together today, still need to pull the pad and touch it up as best I can where the bezel is...it has a laminate dash cover and some of the old dash can still be seen. It will do until I can get a replacement pad.

When I got finished, it was nearly dark and I sat in it, behind the wheel and turned the lights on and watched the dash light up....I can't even say how much it moved me to see the radio light up and the a/c controls and the dash...it was like a flashback to childhood...I remember those dashes and lights...wow...how neat. I will try to get a decent photo of the lit dash.

She looks beautiful man! I can't wait for the day I'll get my truck this far. Oh, did you get the part I sent you?

Thanks. As for the radio, I turned on the AM and I can pick up KMOX out of St. Louis, just like I did when I was kid listening to a little transistor radio late at night...that's kind of neat....that some things still remain.

yes I did...I am trying to figure out how to get the ash tray lid out of the dash so I can paint the inside...I haven't tested the lighter yet though...think I'll go do that.

Seats are back out and going to the upholstery shop tomorrow...hope it isn't march before I get them back.

Also bought a sheet of luan plywood and have the interior bedsides traced out...I got to buy a jigsaw...cut them out...stuff I can do in the garage when it is too cold out...

odd...but when I got to the upholstery shop the main guy said that his most experienced upholsterer died at home of a heart attack at 51 years old...wow..that doesn't give you a warm fuzzy when you are 50...

on another note...I picked up a CB radio...1975 Midland new in box never opened....plastic rap is still intact...can't wait to play with that...

thanks...all my seats will be correct and with the actual factory material...at least they all match now.

Uphplstery guy said he would do my side panels for free if I bring him the pre-cut luan and the material :waytogo:

I got some luan and cut it today:

I really wanted to get a 3D scan of those metal pieces that fit on the end and push up into the door seals, but I could never find anybody willing to do it...for any amount of money. Those were by far the hardest part to find for my Blazer...I offered to let LMC use them so they could reproduce the bedside panels for the 73-75 but even they didn't want them.

I think they will look good after upholstery. my biggest challenge is figuring out where the holes go for the trim strips so I know where to place the mounting brackets and exactly how the trim strips line up. I don't have any photos of panels with trim strips on them.

If you took them to a machine shop they should be able to run you some up pretty quickly if you have an origonal to base it off of, at least I would think so
