Is there any way you could photoshop those pictures and mark which tube was with the kit or which tube came with the kit? Thanks bud

Here is the best I could do. The line in red are from the kit, blue tube I added. I also added some older pics before all the extra tubing. It is just missing the 3 bars behind the seat.

Quick question cegus:

Your rig a '73-'75 convertible top or a post-'75 that you just simply hacked the roof off of completely? The plate at the top of the windshield has me thinking the latter scenario is the case.

EDIT - Never mind, I see your sig. As I thought, you did a hack 'n slash job to it.

you can tell its a 76+ by the drop in the floor behind the front seats ;)

It is a 87 but will have my old 82 diesel vin;) You can see in this pic where I chop the top off the bed sides

Thanks bud that was EXACTLY the picture I needed. I think I can do about the same as you since I have access to a notcher. You just sold another kit for SW they need to give you commission :D

It looks like the rear down tubes will end up right where my ammo boxes are mounted :doah: Now I'll have to find a different place for them. How what is the measurement of the outside width of the rear downtubes and the measurement from the back of the bed forward to the tube? Thanks

Looks like you could just mount them inbetween the fuel cell and the ammo cans. I will try and remember to get measurements tonight.

Fuel cell is 26" wide and I have 7" between the cell and the box. But if I look at you pictures and follow the bed ripple back to where yours line up then it hits about 8" outside the fuel cell.

I am also going to half to notch the half top to clear the bars. Yuk I hate fiberglass work. I think I'll notch it with a hole saw and glass in some 3" PVC cut inhalf to look a bit better, since it all looks stock now ha ha I need some type of top for our dang sun here in the desert. Plus it is a nice place to sit and eat lunch ontop.

I live in south central Minnesota, when and where do you want to go wheelin? :D
umm...... spring some time, would love to go wheeling with ya, but iron range is a bit of a drive for me. btw i loved your pics, wish i could've seen you hit the hill that got your door! get back to me and we can try to work out a trip some where, i want to hit rockport and cliffs in the spring :D

on the front down bars....would it be possible, with the tube they give you, to run it throught the dash? It looks like you loose a fair amount of leg room with where it runs.

Don't think there was enough length in the tube to do it. Also the bend would not be correct.

I have the S&W cage in mine also, and it's basically setup the same way as cegusman's with just some minor differences. I have my A-pillar down bars tucked a little closer to the sides for more leg clearance (though it's never been an issue) and I have the top bar on the rear family hoops with a slight downward angle (just for looks).

Originally I did not install the door bars but after a few rides with the doors off I decided to slap the extra bars on for protection. It's a slight nuisance to get in and out now but I'm glad they are there. A couple weeks ago in Wellsville I had them up against a rock ledge and I'm convinced they kept the rock out of the seat...and me!

For somebody who doesn't have a tubing bender and doesn't want to pay a shop big $$ to build a cage, the S&W kit is a good deal. Sure, there are some tubes that might fit a little better or I might have moved a little if I did it from scratch, but for what it is I am satisfied.

I posted nearly the same question on here maybe a month ago. Pretty much all of the info you asked is posted here:

I know Ceugsman is probably tired of answering questions about that cage. I know I asked a ton. But he was very very helpful. Anyways, browse through that thread for some additional information.
BTW- I ordered the S&W 10 point cage for my K5 yesterday. It was on sale for $219. I also had to buy 4 frame outriggers ($8.25 each), and shipping was about $120 FEDEX. Not too bad really. I know it fits under the stock hard top, and fits with the stock dash. There is some cutting and notching required though. Im not sure, but I may have heard something about it being the last K5 one they had in stock. Call them up, and if you get them real soon before x-mas, they might be able to fab up one still for the sale price.

Give ART a call at S&W 1-800-523-3353 ext 117. Let him know that Brian from Sounds Incredible in NM sent you. They had more instock when I called this morning. Plus all of there stuff is computer bent and auto fed so they can bend out a full cage in about an hour is my understanding.
