Awesome build!! I have a buddy getting ready to do an SAS on a 2003 Chevy X-tra cab and your build will give him a good idea whats involved. Do you have any updates on how everything is working?

thanks man!

as a matter of fact i installed my new new set of alcans yesterday, lol. the truck was under the knife and ready to roll again in a hour. they ride alot better and the truck doesnt lean nearly as much in turns as my first set of alcans and now i have an awsome shackle angle

Sheesh ya already dinged the steering stabilizer shock, and havent cut off your u-bolts yet.:haha: Looks good. Are you going to trim the crossmember up some more then box it in? Trimming to the yellow line would look clean, I would trim it simular to the blue line provideing it dont make it too weak

Balzer.

i bought the steering stabilizer prebent... lol it was on the axle when i bought it.

and as far as the xmember, its prolly not gonna get cut anymore than what it is now, it clears more than ill ever need and at some point ill box it in, its not a real high viz spot so im not realy concerned about it. and ill cut the ubolts in the next couple of days

not bad for $27 at the scrap yard... both are 36" long, one 2.5"x2.5", .25"wall and the other 2"x2", .25" wall

finally got around to installing my detriot the other day... what a night and day difference over an open axle, its gonna take a bit of getting used to as far as DD'ing goes but it hooks up awesome.

left my camera at my house durring the install so no pics of that, but the install went really smooth... but here is a pic of the sexay new DIY4x flatback diff cover that i still need to paint black... yes im aware im still running my cluster farked 10blt hard lines:doah:

also got my XMLs on the other day, kind of regretting going with a x8" rim now, you live and learn i guess:(. love the tires though, they measure 1" taller than my 38.5 boggers, they ride smooth on the road, are quit like a SSR or even better, no flatspots and they pulled my truck down 100 RPMs on the highway. only thing is i have like 22 psi in the front and 20 in the rear and they are still crowning, guess ill just have have to take the pressure down some more until they run flat as i have no more cashola for x10 rims

yep, super skinny wheels aren't always the way to go on DD tires. I considered doing the 6.75" wide 16.5s when i was going to throw the humvee tires on, but im glad i didn't. I was able to keep them at about 30 psi and very little crowning. The 8.25s i have were acting wide as hell when it came time to mount the 37s tho. They wouldn't seat for anything short of an explosion. Brake cleaner + lighter = tires seated on wheels. We kept the wheels clamped in on the tire machine and it made it jump a little, but didn't go anywhere.

And yes, radials are awesome on road compared to bias tires, aren't they!?!

well its been a while, so time for an update

... got the cepek hoops in along with a 5* JKW shim in under the leaf springs. the shims have so far extremely reduced death wobble, the one place that unquestionably causes my truck to go into a uncontrollable fit of DW only produced a slight shimmy then all was good! also the tires hit the shock under hard stuff, a problem that will also have to be addressed in the future. but on to some pics... could have kept going but my tire was hitting the shock so i decided to call it quits

i also finaly broke down and started to cut my boggers.

but let me say, you have to have some serious will power to do this crap! the act itself outright sucks... not to mention the burning rubber fumes are quite pungent(sp?) and actualy kept us from finishing the second tire today as we were begining to feel light headed. im going to have to invest in some masks before we attempt this again.

the outcome however is pretty damn amazing. these things are deffinately going to be a different kind of beast once its all said and done!
