sas on 2003 2500hd

Did a sas on a 2003 HD with the duramax. Unfortunately, i didnt handle the drivetrain mods. We used a 79 Ford HP60.

Turned out pretty sweet, aside from the owners, ideas of accessorizing. Stacks, big steps on the sides, little chromy accessories. Yuck.

Very nice, rather jealous of the new engine going in.

Nothing to be jealous about..lol. Hopefully after all this it runs extremely good.

Surprised you used a 79 60, unless it's with leafs. Most now use the newer 60. Stacks and chrome isn't my favorite either..lol. I'll be removing my sidesteps too shortly.

Cam, lifters, lifter trays ,timing set, valve springs, valve seals, arp studs and heads are on. Also did the rocker bushing kit, and painted the timing and oil pan aluminum and the valve covers chevy orange to break it up a little. The block and supercharger are staying black......slowly getting there.

What rocker bushing set you use? They had a post on the lsx monsters fb group with alot of guys complaining of wear after only a few thousand miles.

I used this kit, i had the comp bearings. Alot of bad reviews of them coming apart, the bronze bushings tho have had decent review at 10k are still doing good. After i bought it tho i did see the che kit has oil grooves cut in for lubrication, which might of been a better idea. I put them together will assembly grease.

Will have more pics soon, motors together and should be in monday night. Had to spend more time going thru pushrod length, i had a feeling i had it wrong. Did the eoic method to get the base circle of the cam. I had 7.362 to 7.370, with using johnson 2110 lifters i have to add a lifter preload of .035 to the length. That gets me a base right around 7.4. With these lifters being longer than ls7's and the head gaskets being .053 my push rods are dead on stock length which I have now. I have 5/16 .080 wall Brian tooley push rods from the blown 6.0. Going to clean em and fire the motor to see how the v alvetrain sounds, if good I'll order manton 11/32 .120 wall. That will stiffen up the valvetrain.

Jeebus! My driveshaft is .120 wall...

Whats the weight difference? I'm certainly no expert but it seems like the more weight you throw in the valvetrain the harder it would be to control...

Lol....they make the push rods thicker for 2 reasons. One strength, two is Ls motors push too much oil to the top end. This will slow it down some.

I missed the weight part, they are 4130/4135 chromoly tubing which makes them lighter and stronger. Which makes it better in both ideas.

Timing cover, flywheel, rockers, push rods, valve covers, coils with mounts and knock sensors windage tray spacers came to space it down since it having the stroker crank and the arp studs. The pick up tube fit perfect and the oil pan went on. One item holding me up is a broken motor mount, so I'll be back at it Thursday when they come in.

So much for using the motor mounts from my motor, it would of been in last night but i couldnt put a set of shitty mounts on it. I picked up these poly motor mounts from atomic fabrication performance. Going to open up the supercharger, install the new brake booster and pull the front hubs apart so i can do the big brake kit on the front awhile.

:yikes::doah::poo::poo: $300 bucks for them . . .

Not one piece of this build has been cheap, nobody else makes them for these trucks. The stock mounts don't seem last, if it was stock then fine yea i'd use gm mounts but going thru all this i figured i should just do the extra beefy mounts. Trying to go the extra mile here, trying also tho not to break my pocket..lol. In the end i didn't skimp and it should be pretty stout when done

oh I am not nocking the BEEFY ...... but the prices some places get anymore blows my mind . there is less than 50 bucks in product there minus cut/weld time . that's my point .

but if these go bad its a bushing swap out and done .
