oh I am not nocking the BEEFY ...... but the prices some places get anymore blows my mind . there is less than 50 bucks in product there minus cut/weld time . that's my point .

but if these go bad its a bushing swap out and done .

I guess being the only guy who makes em you can ask those prices, either way its still a bitch to change if they go bad...lol. He also had a solid set that guys like to use, i'd rather not have those but i think these will still transfer alot. If my stock motor didn't break a set i would of just bought a set from anchor but they suck..!!

It's alive, motors quiet and runs good. I did the 1st break in period and changed the oil. Still need more break in time but we are getting a foot of snow.

Brake jobs done too, no and light and they work awesome.

If you look in the pics above the wheel studs are short, you only get 3 1/2 turns before its tight. Looking thru the dorman website i had a hard time finding a set of longer studs with a close knurl size. The stock stud the knurl is .648-.650, the studs i found are 5/8 longer but with a .677 knurl. I drilled em to 17mm which is .669 and hammered them in. That gives me .008 of press fit, they seemed nice and snug. They worked out great, well worth doing for the piece of mind. The 408 is now broke in, 300 miles i put on it with the joe gibbs break in oil. Just changed it with joe gibbs driven hr 10w30, with the melling 10295 and the extra bearing clearances i have 38 psi of oil pressure at hot idle and after that as you rev it the more you get, at 4k its at 60 plus psi. I moved the mighty mouse catch can to the other side of the motor, its now on the right side. It was in the way on the left to check or fill the power steering. Should be tuned almost perfect in the next few weeks, you can really tell this thing wakes up.

That was the other day, the idles a bit fast and a little rich. Adjusted now it has more lope, being leaned to where it should be made a big difference. I'll get you a better one later today when i do a hp log. Its nothing crazy tho, the cam is under .600 lift. Its when they get above .600 they sounds more drag car ish. Its also not loud having the 4 mufflers, a set of 6 inch round magnaflows and a pair of dynomax turbo mufflers. Having straight thru mufflers made it stupid loud to drive every day. I probably will tho swap out the dynomax for something better sounding. Still tuning, it will be a real good sleeper. Its slowly getting there, with the low boost it seen so far it runs really good and pulls hard.

Moved the catch can the other day to the right side, used a ls head mount. The hoses didn't look right and the fittings were all wrong. So I ordered a 180 and a 90, real short hose and it worked out perfect. Also added a drain extention, that way I can drain the can down on the inside of the frame rail. Next I'll put a 90 on the intake tube so the fresh air hose isn't sticking so far out. Trying to clean up under the hood one step at a time.

Been logging and adjusting things on hp tuners, my 100mm maf gets too much air flow.. Basicly the maff doesnt work after 12k hz and i seen more. I have it set up mow to go to 10,500 at most, Injectors had to be scaled down to make it, alot to adjust when a maf tune is done. The tunes closer now and I get a code for a missfire, it runs fine and no other problems came up. It's from the cam lope, adjusted in the tune and no more light. See random rich afr's, which the maf tables getting closer and that's clearing up.

I took the last 2 oil filters and cut them open with tin snips. The break in first was an acdelco 46 and the 2nd is a wix 51522. Both are the same short filter. The acdelco has less filter media than the wix, the wix also has a big rubber washer and a spring. The wix was harder to cut too which sucked. I pulled the paper out and cut it in strips to dry, you can see it real good dry. The break in filter has flakes more like dust, the other filter has almost nothing. So so far so good, now running 10w40 I see 35psi hot oil pressure at idle and 55-60ish at wot. With the tune closer it seems to run pretty awesome, it's gonna really piss people off...Lol..lol.

I haven't posted in a while, the pump in the trans bit the dust making the trans slip bad. The trans was pulled out and a few more fancy hard parts were added. It should be able to hold 1k hp plus. The exhaust was all removed and tossed, nothing was reused. I'll reuse the mufflers on my 83.

Here's a few pics of the exhaust during mock up, quite a few hours in this getting it right. All mandrel bends and 3 inch up front and all 4 inch mandrel bends after the muffler. The muffler before the axle is a dual 3 to single 4 inch. These mufflers are necked down, it was cut open and a 4 inch pipe welded in. Re wrapped and tig welded back together. The rear muffler is a 7 inch round magnaflow diesel muffler. All stock style hangers were used that were cut off chevy truck frames. Came out real nice, being tig welded and cleaned up. V-bands were used throughout the whole system along with a flex joint on each side.

Not that it matters at this moment but the trans received some big upgrades. A few parts from rossler, ati aluminum rollerized drum, extra clutches, billet main shaft and billet output shaft. Plus the valvebody is a newer setup so that when in overdrive it still can take the power where otherwise you shouldn't make pulls in overdrive. With the converter cleaned and ready to go and a full rebuild from scratch it will be tuned and pressures checked so it will work flawless before i see it. The exhaust is all tig welded together and rehung, it will be tuned this weekend and hopefully ready to roll. Going to try and keep it maf tuned and stay away from speed density unless its really needed. Will probably be in the 10-12 psi range which is fine, with having 10.2 compression its a little much with any more boost than that on pump gas.
