Sasquatch

92 K3500 CCLB 454 TBI / 4L80E This is the rebuild of a rig that was purchased recently. This is to serve as a family tow rig that doesn't have a payment.
Just gonna throw this thought out there. Ultimate Adventure doesn't have anything on daily driver service trucks! Man this truck is taking a beating. Im trying to just make it to a point where I've got two trucks so I can work on one during the day instead of the night before to go to work in the morning.
Just saying. How long is UA? Im 3 months deep so far. How do I get my invite?

I love this truck! Do you ever have the need for a winch? Our utility company F550 service trucks all have winches but they are useless for off road without a winch and also a set of tire chains for mud. They hold up pretty well but make bad noises when twisted up of road in a 15K+ lb truck. If I lived in the kinda country you do I would love to be doing similar to what you do but I am more on the diesel and truck side than what you do.

I will have a winch on this one eventually

Well I kinda had a busy couple of weeks. This old beast is taking a nasty beating. Its currently sitting in the driveway wounded and in quarantine. We had to put the neck collar and everything to keep Sasquatch from locking the wounds.

On another note though. If you follow my YouTube channel or Instagram. You probably already figured out what path I'm taking with the service trucks. This one is going on a diet.

Running tally of the last weeks work damages. It was a week that makes you question having your name on the door.

Melted the chinese relay board And rewired the lights in the dark.
Pulled the crane mount and damaged the box.

Blew the power steering hose oring.

Found the broken bolt in the 60

Broke a weld Cheyenne wheel
Bought a set of used wheels and tires. Had two brought to the job to get me home. Ew wheels didn't fit my lug nut socket. Helper went to town(45 minutes one way) to get internal lug nuts. He made the call to save me money and bought a new special thin wall lugnut socket. Returns to find out it doesn't fit. Returns to town to buy internal lug nuts. Drive home on mismatched wheels front to back.

Get engine from (you know the place) started after adjusting the governor. 45 seconds into an idle warmup and the trans pressure line blows. Special fittings at both ends with specific degrees of clocking. No fittings available. Order the parts and wait. In the meantime, haul donkey to Ely, NV for a skanker deal.

Sasquatch will be on the back burner for a few.

Damn dude you are rough on shit LOL. Just kidding, sometimes it goes that way. Me thinks you need to upgrade to the medium duty world again. What's your YouTube channel?

New truck is looking like it's working out nicely. I have never really driven a truck with a brownie. How does the shift pattern go when going down the highway? What's the gear ratio for the four gears in the brownie?

I'll post a pic of the pattern after I get in it today. Basically though, this truck has enough power to use the 5 speed or the main trans as a normal trans. 1 through 5 like a pickup. Once in fifth gear I than start using the auxiliary or brownie box. If it is in 2nd, than I just grab 3rd than 4th. If I started in 1st and 3rd than when I reach 5th and 3rd the next gear is 5th and 4th. Thats the top gear being its a 5 x 4 setup.
When I'm in the woods, I have found that 3rd in the main is the common gear. Use 2nd and 3rd in the auxiliary for most of the offhighway and probably 2nd in the main when close to the job where it tends to get steeper.
4th gear in the auxiliary is overdrive and 5th gear in the main is direct.
