No on the blue. The drive in here gets old sometimes. But once here it's nice.

Close, I wish I would have thought of that. :haha::haha:

There will be some black on it.

Hint: "You're a mean one"

Grinch Green?

Green with black stripes like the new grinch camaro??

WINNERS!!!

Actually I stole your (70Jimmy) look with the liner on the bottom half.

I was going to color match the Al's liner to match the Green but decided it needed something. So Black Al's from the body lines down. I will then color match the liner on the inside and the bed caps. The cage, dash pad and door panels will also be black.

Well it's back from paint. It went OK. I had a hard time remembering it's a "Trail/Race Rig" and not a show truck. I did all the body work and wet sanding and my friend who owns a paint shop just pulled the trigger. He can lay some paint. Not a single run or light spot. :waytogo:
The AL's liner gave us some problems. It might have been to old or we just had bad luck spraying it. It did not flow out very nice no matter what pressure we tried using nor adjusting the amount of flow of material.
Tinting it was another problem. It came out with a brown hue even though we put 3 times the recommended amount of tint in it. To be fair to AL's the color is light. We used 24 ounce of color per gallon.

Time to start putting it back together. I'm going to start with the wiring, then the motor and drive and drivetrain.

Lot's to do.....

Nice! Is the liner just the black areas on the lower portions.
Sorry for the crappy pics.. The Liner is black on the outside following the body lines. The whole inside of the truck is color matched (Close anyway) I went 1 1/2" over the bed rails and tailgate. I also did the Firewall area.

Wow, where's my sunglasses. Looking good.
My thoughts exactly when I walked into the booth. It sort of grows on ya though. That was the purpose of the black.

There's going to be some graphics done up by MRK5 (Scott) to really tie in the theme of the Grinch.

Looks like a good match to me, I couldn't even tell. :)

I finally looked at this thread, but haven't read through it all yet. I didn't realize you could get everything for the TH400 switch pitch mod anymore. I know Kenne-Bell used to have everything, but I think they discontinued their parts offerings a long time ago. Do you have any sources for parts?

Super build, by the way.

Thanks

Jeff

Had some friends stop by and we decided to bolt up the trans to the motor to make sure everything was good. (for those not following the thread, Cad 500 and 4l80E)

Not!!!! Set back #5001...

The gap between the torque converter and flex plate was 7/16". During the build we had the torque converter shop build out the 6 pads and nose of the TC 3/8" to compensate for the adapter plate I was using. The max I would consider pulling the TC forward would be 1/8", anymore than that and you are asking for pump failure.
Washers/spacers are not an option either as the nose of the TC would not sit in the crank.

All the researching I did for this build no one ever said anything about the difference in torque converters and their fit in Cad 500's and 4L80E's.

Well back to the wiring and reassembly of other items. It's not like I don't have any other things to do. :D

Got the Torque converter back from the shop in SLC. Now it's to tight:mad:.
Will someone please come pick up Mr. Murphy!! He has overstayed his welcome.

I haven't got very far on the wiring either. All this time you would think I would have it all worked out how I was going to do things.
Since I don't have the stock heater on the pass firewall it frees up a lot of room both inside and out to mount things.
I will be adding a bunch of switches and relays as well as a 2500 Watt inverter. The controller for the trans as well as the Dakota Dig dash electronics need to be mounted also.

My current dilemma now is do I keep all the relays under the dash on the pass. side or mount all or some outside on the pass firewall? I would prefer to mount them all inside but it lengthens the wiring for the Windstar fans and headlights. They will be both run on 10 Ga wire. I will have relays for the Lockers, Headlights, Fans, Fuel Pump, Aux lighting front and rear.

No pics to post...
