Scenario; engine fire what do you do?

If there's a fire beyond my control, I stop the car in an open area where it won't endanger others, I get out and I call 911.

I have seen cars on fire pull straight into a gas station, I will never do that

Get out in a safe place, make sure everyone and thing is away from the vehicle then let it burn to the ground and use the insurance money to buy your next favorite vehicle.

I have a fire extinguisher in my truck but also carry a couple of boxes of baking soda just in case a grease fire was to break out while cooking.

Happened to my buddy with a '77 Bronco.
It caught fire on the Rubicon and burned to the ground. When he built a replacement he put a on board fire suppression system in it

glad i saw this thread so i can look into the element extinguishers, i keep 2 in my blazer now but having something like that would just help in the situation.

MY tip to every one, If you swap in a new transmission make sure you go ahead and get the floor redone. One of my best friends had just put a 465 in his CJ5 and had a big hole in the floor well he was a block from his drive way when it went up in flames. The worst part was that with a massive hole in the floor the flame was flying up through the hole and catching the interior on fire, he struggled to make it out because he couldn't undo his seat belt due to the flame coming up. he did manage to get out but had to watch his jeep burn down while all his neighbors watch/recorded it. Spent a couple days in a burn ward but has made a full recovery as of now.

Definitely a good thread for people to read and compile as much knowledge as possible.

The responses and awareness this thread has brought is amazing. Thanks to all who have posted up and to those that Have read it!

I’d like to add, make sure your passengers have knowledge of how to get out in an emergency. And someone can get to those who can’t, including dogs!

I keep a knife or a hacksaw blade wrapped with a friction tape "handle" in my truck ,under the cup holder..never know when it may come in handy..

Once I got pulled over, and the cop asked me why I had a knife there--I said "In case I need to cut the seat belt off"...he looked at me like :surepal:,I don't think he believed me....but he didn't confiscate it..
