Screwing around...

www.TheRangerStation.com

There's guys over there that could talk you through the whole thing...if you don't end up wanting a 5.0L swap as well!

A 5.0 would be pretty sweet.. I'm registered there but haven't done anything but a couple posts back when my electric t-case shifter was fubar'd(I fixed it, but have a spare manual t-case for later with the rarer A4OD shifter assembly).

I'd love to do a high pinion d44 front and 9" rear... figure it would be pretty sweet. :D

Nah, 4.0L with a 5 speed stick and the BW t-case.

Bent beam D35 front and a Explorer disc 8.8" and you'd be ready to go fast and flex as long as you used the right springs.

I liked my Ranger...just was a bit small for my needs. Might get a 2wd 4 banger when we move south and my DD doesn't need to be a 4x4.

Mine was a good truck, everything was pretty easy to get to.

Like I said though, a 5.0 would be too tempting :D The 4.0 does have some balls though for a V6..

Mine was a '96 that already came with the D35, 8.8, and the 4.0L so I was pretty happy from the start.

Actually I talked to quite a few folks on TRS who said the 5.0L swap wasn't really worth it if you already had a 4.0L. Easier, was put in both body styles so everything you'd need could be pulled from a junker, and damn if they aren't peppy. Mine would get up and go once it was geared right.

Disc'd 8.8's are hard to come by reasonable around here.. jeepers and sami's eat them up.

Thinking finding a donor truck for the trany and other parts would be easy... finding a truck with a good 4.0 not so much  My 2.9 runs good, and the trany's are the same(clutch on the 4.0 is a 10" versus the 8" on the 2.9, but from what I read a clutch and flywheel from a 4.0 will work on the 2.9).
