Seat cover question

Random question, the plastic square looking base on that seat. Are those certain model year only? Neither my 86 or 85 have them. The whole seat looks 'newer'. 90-91? Or 87 up or whatever. I've seen quite a few K5s on here with them.

Bringing this one back up.

My long term plan in the Suburban is to replace the bench with captain's chairs and a console but for the time being I'd like to cover the deteriorated fabric. That being the case, I'm not gonna spend the money to actually recover the seat and it's ridiculous what most seat cover companies are charging for a glorified blanket.

Looking online I came across www.seatcoverman.com. His prices seem great; $60 shipped for a custom fit cover. Small business & made in USA...just wondering if anyone has any experience with the company?

Well after an e-mailing with Ken at seatcoverman.com I went ahead and put in an order for his saddle blanket cover.

I'll post up the findings when it gets here.
