CAMSK5: I saw your V3500 for sale a lot of places. Too bad it had to go. :( Was a nice truck.

Now some questions, guys. Are both the auto and stick engine plate the same? I'm ready to put ours together and need to know. I have a new input shaft, retainer, bearing, and CTD bellhousing located. I just need to know if I need a nv4500 engine plate too. Also I was told by the CTD dealership that the first get CTD's {89-93} can't make much power  . Are they FOS or what? I thought a rotory pump motor make good power easily too.

Yes ,
the engine plate/mount are the same auto/manual as long as there second gen parts 94-98.5.

The 89-93 are not going to make the power that a P7100 pump would. They can make up to 300hp,after that it get harder !

The plate I have is a 92'. The one that came off the donor truck. The one I was looking at is off a 02'.Will either one work?

The 92 won't work,the 02 was a 24V what trans was hooked to the 24v?

A nv4500. Otherwise I wouldn't be looking at it. The bellhousing is an 02' as well. Will it work? Our tranny is a 99' GM.

Then it will workbut you'll still need a second gen 94-98.5 engine plate adapter!!

What I really wanted to say is yes the second gen and third gen housing and bellhousing parts will work!On the Cummins

( you can't use the first gen housing with any other parts other than first gen, housing, bellhousing, trans.)

Yes, you can use the third gen engine plate ,NV4500,bellhousing on the engine.

Sorry for the confused type O.

Well I ended up scoreing a 94' plate, bellhousing, and a 92' slavecylinder for $187 :D at a local yard. We bolted the trans in for mock up and it appears we will need at least a 1" body lift  to make it fit good. We are also having a heck of a time figuring out how to make the intercooler intake clear the Hydroboost.

Show some pics I might be able to help,Also take some of the mounts, engine compartment.

93 4X4 mounts

CrewCab,

Just starting my 93 GMC3500 4X4 CC dually conversion. I bought a Frito-Lay truck with a 4BT/TH400 and I plan on installing the 4BT in the truck mated to the stock 6.5L 4L80E. The marriage should be easy since my truck is a 93 and has the stand-alone trans computer and no engine ECU.

My question, does the 4X4 third member have a clearance issue with the P30 adaptor tilt? (4BT oil pan to third member) I was also wondering if the 10 degree tilt could be split to a 5 degree tilt on both the tranny and engine without pissing off the 4l80E? I also have a thread going on the 6.5L Diesel-Place http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86846 if you would like to visit.

As noted before the 10* tilt looks bad,Also you'll want to keep the auto trans level from side to side .If you split it up 5* on each it may not be that bad, you'll have to take a look to see.

I do know the oil pan is close, but they do make another rear sump pan as well.
This all has to do with motor mounts ,Location

My mounts are made to keep the engine and trans inline.

I'll try to get a camera bought soon so I can. Been spending my $$$$ on payments and trucks rather than a camera.

Well guys, motor is finally mounted in a way that a body lift was not required :D . We have to swap inputs on our NV4500,get a starter, flywheel, custom radiator, clutch, and wire it.

This brings up a question though. Which year of flywheel do I run  ? The motor is a 92',the enoine plate is a 94'+,the tranny is a 99' GM,the starter will obviously be a 94'+ too. Will the 94'+ flywheel bolt right up to the motor? I'm getting excited about having this running for my brother. I'm thinking about doing mine now :D . I found another donor truck that I hope to pick up.

The Flywhell has to match the engine plate housing,so if you have a 94 plate housing than a 94 and up flywheel will just bolt up.

I have a 1991 V3500 454 sm465 np205 and I am seriously considering a cummins swap. Which engine is better, the 12 valve or the 24 valve, and why. I see the nv4500 is a common idea for trans but what is needed for the Allison 1000 trans to work and where can the parts be gotten from. Any other info would be helpfull since I am in the planning stage and then will start finding parts. Also, what performance mods can be done to what engine as I am looking for more that factory performance levels.

Daniel,

12v Vs 24v

12v 89-91.5 non intercooled,ve pump,91.5-93 intercooled,94-96 *180hp p pump,small DV,97-98.5 215hp bigger DV.

1.The 12v would be cheaper to buy.
2.You can do power mods that cost you nothing.
3.It takes only (1) 12v hot wire to run,no Computer needed.
4.less wiring to deal with.
5.You don't have the problems like the 24v have * coolant leaks,fuel pumps,ect.

24v 98.5 up
1.Cost more to buy.
2.have to deal with a computer,wiring.
3. no free power, have to buy controlers.
4.have to deal with fuel pumps going bad, coolant leaks, ect.
5.parts cost more.

Nv4500
1. cheap to find.
2.They came behind the cummins.
3.IF your going to use a dodge NV4500 get the updated out put shaft, because the fith gear nut comes off.
4.Since you have a chevy just get a 96 or newer Gm Nv4500 and don't have to worry about the output shaft update, and just install a dodge input shaft ready to bolt up.
5.parts are cheap.
6.There smaller than a Nv5600 with cost more, weight ,hard to find.

Allison 1000

1. Cost to high.
2.Need a controler if you want overdrive.
3.parts cost.
4.Big and heavy.
5.Hard to find.
6.Need to find the adapter plate

The performance mods
Injectors,delivery valve,turbo,cams,Timming,(fuel plate *12v ) .exhaust,airfilter,intercooler.
