Serpentine belt conversion - what to look for?

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I just saw the AC delete pulley. It all makes sense now. Your pics are very helpful.

Yes, I was looking at the Kwik Kit. That may be the best way to go. I may not need to start a thread after all!

Nvrenuf...thanks for those pics as well! Ok, definitely planning to go this route.
Any issues you ran into or tips of advice for the 454 MarkIV setup you went with?

i had the serp belt stuff and the kwik kit just made perfect sense for the bang for the buck and bolt on friendly . gm does offer a kit like the sbc stuff but its just for big block and $$$$$$$$ big bucks .

My conversion has been painless, no issues or things to change at all. (knocks on wood)

My only tip would be to get a pass side bracket without the smog horns, it's just ugly imo and unused. The brackets without come on some V8's but are more easily found on 4.3's. Much cleaner looking.

The GM kit uses mostly stamped steel brackets and the accessories are more spread out. I like the close / tight look of the SBC set up better.

Meh, don't spend extra to use the non-smog pump brackets. Just cut the ears off. I have that bracket and I've only seen the ears twice since putting it in. :D

NVR...what are you using for an upper rad hose?....thermostat housing off of ...?
Any idea if I could use my 1985 style ps hydroboost pump...or will I need to change to something else now..if you know.

For the upper hose I believe I used the stock 91 Blazer w/ 350. The thermostat housing is just a Summit billet piece that points straight up.

I bought a p/s pump for the Blazer but only because I didn't have a good one. It looked like a typical tear drop reservoir pump but I've never stared at it to see what direction it turns. I really don't think it's anything special as long as the threaded holes on the pump itself are clocked correctly for the bracket.

Note: I did not use any of the supporting brackets that go to the intake or manifold.

if your junk yard hunting for stuff now is the time to up-grade to the g-series van pump and core support mounted can if you are not doing hydro assist steering .

last year 1995 van g-series or older .

here is one mounted on my budget beater with a strech on the can to pump hose and light mod to the bracket to mount to the core support . the fill can with cap is mounted next to the driver side rad tank on the core support . sorry no pic .

NVR..thanks for that info.
I think I'm going to order the Kwik kit K10014 and go for the early donor kit (1990-1995 Full size trucks: V8 5.7L, V8 5.0L, and V6 4.3l and 1987-1995 S10 pickups and S10 Blazers: V6 4.3L) as the belt configuration seems slightly more compact on the passenger side.

Last question....could you have used the supporting brackets or was there a reason to not/can't use them?

sweetk30….I may consider that for the Burb swap, thanks for pointing that option out. On the K30 I want to retain the hydro-boost. Thanks for the pics.

vans were hydro boost . the pump is 2 hose but the can has the 2nd return nipple to make 3 . my k30 is running this and working just fine . i love the van p/s stuff and engine dipstick and trans dipstick for the fact i dont need to reach over the fenders to check any fluid level at all .

I never tried the supports. I figured there wasn't any way for them to fit with the big brackets being spaced away from the block.

the round stock brace rods i just cut/bent and welded them up as needed to bolt up to both the block and intake .

Good idea....I think I add that to the list. Bracing is always good. Another "Thanks!" for taking pics of this also!

in the budget beater thread / plow machine thread / 3 to 4 build for the family . i just know were they are so i post them in specific thread when needed.
