Make your own shackle flip

I spent like 20 bucks total

Just get 3-4" of 4x4 .25 wall square tubing and some 3/16 for a gusset

1 sawzall blade did it all for me, the stock shackle hanger cuts like butter

I like the idea of doing both. Get a shackle flip and put 56" springs under there. :D

I've been running 4" TC soft rides for over 5 years and get all sorts of axle wrap.

Doing a flip does not change the spring rate. What changes is the way the force is applyed to the spring. My first K5 I had I did a flip on it and I actually think I had less spring wrap with that even with the overload springs flipped. As fas as towing goes you should be fine with either set up.

If your springs are in good shape, the flip is generally a good way to go. Installation isn't bad but if really helps if you're used to the work and have the tools, it's an easy job to fight. You don't have to totally drop the tank, we've done it with just hinging it down at the back. We also have a socket welded on the end of a long tube that lets you do the whole job with just dropping the bumper.
If the leaf pack is not good, just get the 4" spring. With some greasable urethane bushings the 4" spring will work pretty well, probably close to the flip performance if not possibly better. As always your milage may vary but this will get you close.

A taller arch spring is a whole different game. You get up to a 6" lift and the springs are pretty stiff at the 52-56" length and the flip in combo with an arched spring will work the best. Typically you'll want a longer shackle also.

yeah a longer shackle was a must for me. i tried using my stock shackles with my 5.5 procomp springs and it kept flippin over.

I have 10 year old BDS 4" lift springs. They flex as much as I need and I still get axle wrap. I can't see wanting softer. I don't have an ideal shock system (inboarded rancho 5000's) so that contributes to the wrap as well. I may get some stockers and a flip if I ever break a leaf but wouldn't do it without some kind of antiwrap system.

If your not real worried about flex, I'd think lift springs are the way to go.
