I need new shocks, the originals on my 89 K5 are toast. I want to eventually go with an ORD custom 2.5" lift or something similar but want to buy shocks now. Does anyone know if the Bilstine B8 5100 will work with stock height? Those are the shocks I would want with the lift but wondering if I can just buy the shocks in the meantime before upgrading the springs and have them be compatible for both ride heights. Thanks!

The quick answer would come from a tape measure in your hand while cycling your suspension and comparing it to the specs if the shock.

There are options that work for both stock and 2" lift. However, the one you mention is specified for 3-4" lift with 7.96" travel.

ORD lists 8.13" travel ideal for 2" lift (but listed specs add up to 8" travel and very close to your previous choice. You could call them and ask if those also work for stock springs. But you could also measure your truck for the best answer.

Kennyw thank you very much, I was for some reason having trouble finding the specs when I was researching them. Looks like I'll give a call to ORD and see what they say. Super helpful, thanks!

Hey, @hambonee, what did you end up doing? I also have an 89 that I want to get Bilsteins for both stock and 2" of lift.
