shop air system / upgrade yet again . . .

Actually a really good way to do it is to mount all that crap on the wall, then run hose from the wall mount to the tank. The hose allows vibrations from the compressor to not transmitt to the water separator/ filter/ on- off valve/ regulator

I like that idea! Good deal! I am looking forward to getting this thing running. It so much quieter than my Craftsman LOL

If your planning to paint then black pipe should be avoided. It leaches crap. Could filter it out on a smaller system but..... I ran mine in galvanized 1" just in case. Could of done copper.
I've always wanted to run an expansion tank to see what happens.

2nd Rapid air after wasting time and money on black pipe.

Works great but get the bigger size diameter kit like I did.

:doah: 10/24/16 i got the 2 extra tanks . i swapped the 1 to my small compressor setup already back then . but today i guess i put it off for to long so i finally hooked up the blue storage tank . :surepal:

she is on the regulated output side of the big compressor so she tops out at 120 psi 80 gal . ball valve drain installed on the bottom / blow off check valve on top left port / gauge and ball valve to feed the hose real on right / ball valve on side to high pressure hose to main line .

also swapped places with the air tank and cutting bottle setup . i like it better already . it was to fat in the corner with the blue tank up in there . now tho the corner is a lot more open and easy to get to stuff .

so today is goof off day in the shop and i have not fired off the little guy in a LONG time now . so i said screw it and plugged him in and man i sure hate to try and sell him . he is so quiet / smooth and just purrrrrrrssssss along . after getting the newer unit a week ago i had planned to sell this one but who knows . everyone said they love it and if i wana sell it let them know . but i have yet to see any money . . .

new unit pics are in this thread . https://ck5.com/forums/threads/skat-blast-960-cabinet-and-i-r-air-comp-like-new.340166/

so to update the air thread i found this nice unit like new local and couldnt pass it up and the blast box also . I.R. 2420n5 unit / 80 gal tank @ 16.8 cfm @ 175 psi spec .

then today i went over to my old farmer buddys shop and helped his widow do some cleaning of stuff to sell and i drug this MEGA tank home and she just needs a little cleaning and swap my BIG unit pump / motor over to it and it will be back to a original I.R. unit minus the 10hp 3 ph motor .

this tank is a 120 gal unit and just real dirty from siting in a barn for years . he scored it from some place that we dont know the story on it for why the pump was stripped of copper and the motor . oh well thats fine i got that covered with my stuff already .

My Eaton makes something about 17scfm @175psi. Never had to wait to build up pressure on any tool I've got. Pretty sure you're moving up into enough territory to run a couple of tire shops. :D:waytogo::saweet:

yaaaa :saweet::surepal: its more a hobby now to build them up .

if i can upgrade the shop to a bit bigger service over the 100 amp i might try and build a 10hp out of the new tank and my old parts . :yikes: that would be some air for me for sure .

i dont ever run 2 at the same time unless a friend is painting in the paint booth and i have the valves flipped closed to make the paint bay its own and run off its own compressor so i dont mess with there air flow and paint spray pattern .

in my 1st 2 units i built i have less in them parts wise than 1 new unit thats half the size and 1/3 the quality . . . . i cant wait to clean and inspect the BIG tan and make the unit alive again . . . .

if i had BIG boy power i would rebuild the pump that was on it and install a 20hp motor and make it a duel head unit . . . they did them also thats 72 CFM on a twin pump unit .

Well few months after i put in the disconnect switch box the pressure switch died . And almost 400 days later and the BIG compressor is back up and running . Glad i had a good size backup tho . . . Life got in the way plus procrastinating a LOT . And worst part the parts were here the whole time

Used this old box from an industrial unit as my new mag relay box . Used 2 beam clamps to mount it to my plate . Then used a chunk of 14/4 for a clean 2wire in / out of the new pressure switch back to the mag relay . i also crimped ends on the big wires so its not all that fine strand on the big pinch screws for the relay .

then covered it up with the old cover and left the original stuff for looks and kind of mix-n-match / steam punk .

Hooked up the power and she fired right off and didn't skip a beat .

here is the little mag-relay i used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019G8OQCY/?tag=atomicindus08-20&th=1 . just pull power from both leads on the input feeding the mag-relay . send it to the pressure switch . then the pressure switch activates and sends it back to each tab of the side of the coil unit . bam problem solved .
