Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
I'll check tomorrow to see if it's got a body lift, if you care.

But I was thinking the difference of poly mounts and old worn out mounts?

I'm going to search old pics. But it may have been that close in the bee also.. I didn't really pay attention.

I'm pretty sure it didn't have a body lift... Go ahead and check if you want, but don't go out of your way for it lol.

The old mounts that were in the bee weren't really that bad. I just changed them because I had them out. MAW.

Yep. Never moved those. I dunno what could be different :dunno:.. there's a slim possibility that the covers are slightly different from one to the other, and I very easily could have put them on opposite sides... But from what I remember they are the same.

I have to get my laptop out for old pics. I've erased a bunch from my phone.

Either way. Engines in :woot:.

Oh and look forward to a decent :burnout: vid.

This engine would burn the tires in the Bee with 37" tires, 3.73 gears, and a gov lock.....
Before these axles get swapped I want to smoke the tires/tire on this with it's puny roller tires, open rear, and 4.56's :thumb:

I have to give the clutch some time first though. There's probably no way I can get a few hundred miles on it before the swap. So that may be an issue...

If it doesn't feel like I've given it enough time I'll have to use these tires but with the lift and 3.73 axles. Still should be good lol

Well, with the wife's wreck and all the red tape crap and such afterwards there hasn't been much forward momentum this week. I did however get it basically 85% ready to fire.

All electric lines ran (except spark plug wires).
Dizzy in.
Carb on and fuel lines/linkage hooked up.
Top 2 bell housing bolts tight, middle 2 wrench tight from the top, bottom 2 in but not tightened at all.
All mount to frame bolts in, but need tightened.

All I need to do is tighten a few things, get the exhaust hooked up, and throw a battery in.

I'm cutting the old exhaust pipes out for now. Then I have to try and fish my headers in there.... If for some reason they don't work (mechanical clutch linkage :dunno:), I'll go back with the stock manifolds for now and piece together the exhaust from the bee with the down pipes from the manifolds.

I got the mount bolts and block to trans bolts all tight. Then got 1 header on... But can't seem to figure out how to get the driver's side on. I think if the mechanical clutch linkage bar was out I could get it. But I'm still trying to figure out how.

Started putting the accessories back together. Can't find one of the belts.

But it's much closer now.

Drivers side header is in. I had to lift the truck off the ground with the gantry to snake it in.... But it's in at least.... Not much room though. I'm guessing the first time the engine rocks it'll clearance it's self lol.

Also picked up a perfect bench seat for $75. :woot:
It's not even sun faded. I actually put the only hole in it trying to load it :doah:. Luckily it's on the back, and should be an easy fix. I'm covering both benches with an identical farm n fleet cover anyway, so it's not a big deal.

Pics tomorrow. Or, later today, however you call it at 1 am lol.

First time even turning it over. Still have to refine timing and such.

Well I think I F'd up...:doah:

When I push the clutch pedal the only resistance I get is the return spring from the mechanical linkage to the frame. It doesn't seem to be contacting the pressure plate. :dunno:

I did notice that when I took the old throw out bearing off it had been installed wrong. Installing it correctly on the fork made it sit back 1/4-1/2 inch farther away from the pressure plate.

So now what are my options..?

1. Pull engine back out. :frown
2. Drop trans.
3. Figure out a way to adjust it if there is one...... :1zhelp:

damn, that sucks! I had to deal with that a few years back. I ended up having to adjust my pivot ball in order to get it working.

I'm thinking thats what I'll have to do. Iirc someone on here just did that same thing. I'll look through my watched threads and see if I can find it. I think it was even done in the truck.....

I haven't tried it out for sure yet. I just remember thinking that the pedal was nearly non existent when I started it. It was in neutral already, and I never tried to put it in gear even.

I can't remember for sure, but I think I ended up pulling the transmission to do mine. I tried to do it while in the truck but it was too much of a hassle as I recall.

Ill get back to this thing this weekend. And get the clutch checked out/ possibly fixed. It looks like the trans can be unbolted from the bell housing leaving it and the fork in place. That will make adjustment and such a lot easier.

I had planned on just making it move so I can back it out to finish the shop cleaning/ organizing. But if I end up having to pull the trans to make it move it'll just get the axles and lift now. It'll have to go up on the stands anyway, so MAW.

I've collected all the parts I need except the front U-bolts, and those are in the shopping cart ready for me to order tonight.

Quick pic of most of the stuff back in and together under the hood.... (Yes, a few more things need cleaned up yet, lol)

Ubolt order complete :waytogo:.

I did forget that I need to address front shocks yet. But that can wait till the axles are in.
