Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
I've almost put it all on CL a few times now. But I didnt what to sell some one a system that in my mind didn't work lol.

Really I never seen a plus to having it? :dunno:
Both of my current carbed trucks start cold as good as the burb ever did. If not better.
Possibly a milage thing, but It's hard to tell going from a half ton burb with a small block to crew cab one tons with big blocks lol.

Shorty does have a hot starting issue though, as can be seen in the vid, which the EFI would be better for maybe.
But the dually doesn't. Old Qjet on it starts it up within the 2nd or 3rd revolution all year.

Well after owning countless carbed vehicles that worked fine and were easy maintenance but don'tadjusteasilyto altitudechanges, then owning a few tbi and having no issues wherever I go, and I am on year 9 with no maintenance other than oil changes.
Then owning a couple of vortec 5.7 trucks, I will convert any carbed vehicle I get to tbi, but I will most likely only buy mpfi vehicles from now on.
Much better power, drivability, and mileage.

I don't have to worry about elevation so far lol, Iowa. But I'm sure being in the hills or mountains with a carb would suck big lol.

Daily driving this isn't too bad. Dually's down (oil cooler line bad) and burb of course isn't going yet, so this is it. Kinda love driving it around.
The no radio thing needs remedied though lol. That part sucks.

I'm thinking that yeah, it needs efi.
Always seems to run great for a while. Then needs a tweak here or there. Then runs Great again for. Awhile, and another tweak, and so on.
Which to me is sort of odd. The dually is carb too and pretty much just runs the same all the time. Needs a tune up now due to it not being done in a few years. But I only notice that because it takes a couple seconds longer to pop off when started.

Hopefully I can get the burb back on the road before long, so I can finally shorten this thing lol. That's my winter goal.

Found an old emblem at my grandpa's farm.
So it went on this :waytogo:
Kinda odd since my grandpa was a die hard ford guy lol.

Got it in my shop to rebuild the T case. Kind of a shame to have to because it'll all change before long. But I want to drive it until then lol.

Not sure if this is supposed to happen lol

Got the TC out to rebuild it because it's been leaking out of both ends, making recent growly noises, and I noticed that I had an 1/8" of up and down play at the rear output yoke.
Then smaller carts from HF work awesome for this :waytogo:

That makes me feel better at least. I figured the ring around it keeping it from going it farther meant it wasn't supposed to be a super tight fit. But it seemed odd lol.

I'm not sure what all goes into a full rebuild, but all I really want to do is fix the seals and whatever bearings keep the shafts straight. May do more if the kit has the stuff.

It's only a 10 spline, and I'll be removing it this winter anyway probably. Since this one won't work on the 4l80e. But it's gotta get me TO this winter lol.
May wait till spring for the swap though. Seems like winter is when I do the most wheeling, cause mud sucks lol.

This article? Only one I could find that you did about a 205.

Just need one part. Because I'm a moron.

I broke the cap over one of the detent springs over tightening it.
So now I need a replacement, or one of the 4x switches before I can put it back in :doah:

Sweet. Been worried about where I'd find one.

Found a brand new poppet plug, and got it ordered. Should be here in a day or 2.
I won't have time to put it back in for another week or so probably anyway.
