Show me your lifted legal trucks

I don't understand this thread. Are there a significant number of trailer queen K5's at this point?

Mine was on my trailer because I had to take it 100 miles in one direction to have Pacific Fabrication do some ECM tuning on it. My 06 Dodge Cummins gets about the same mileage, pulling my 30ft goosy with the K5 on it, then my K5 gets on it's own, even with the 6L. :tongue1: Plus, mine by definition can't be a trailer queen. Since it is no wheeler and is a street cruiser.
Here in AZ you can register as collector car and get out of emissions and inspections. Just can't daily drive it to work.
This makes EPIC sense. I'm actually surprised CA doesn't do something similar, since there are SO many collector cars here. Yes, there is no smog in 1976 and older, but "classic" cars are becoming classics well after '76 now. I put 3-500 miles on my K5 a year. I probably, literally cause more Pollution with my 25HP riding lawn mower annually.

pffft, back in the day before the gov spent itself silly, Joyseys inspection covered everything from a sniffer test, to headlight aiming, shifter alignment, full lights.. made you get out of the car and they brake equalize checked it on the pads, etc... the only thing they never did was pop a hood to check smog equipment..... mirrored for cat's tho... and I'm talking back in the 80's, 90's...

75 is the cutoff for smog here.i have a buddy with a 76 k10 that he just cant get rid of. Im thinking of posting it on here some out of staters could enjoy it.

I believe it was voted in with the agreement that it would move up a year, every year that passed...we got screwed on that.

eh, this state infuriates me with that sh*t... I'm enough of a dinosaur to remember BEFORE they had sniffer tests and all inspection was for was SAFETY.... what a concept!!! ;)

in the last 10, 15 yr's they could care less if you have brakes or working lights... but GOD forbid it smokes... that's all they check anymore... taillights? who cares!!! friggin tree huggers...

Yeah same here. Ive seen cars on the road that clearly were unsafe but meh its more important to bust someone with tint. Oddly enough ive ridden behind vehicles with no cat that should clearly have one but I never seen them pulled over.

A friend of mine swapped a manual in a bronco and got flagged. Has to take it out and get re inspected and smogged every year now. Same with diesel smoke, a small burp for funsies gets you a nice ticket and annual smogs.

We can thank the govenator for signing off on that one. A lot of guys were holding onto cars in the 1976-78sh range waiting for them to be old enough for exemption.

never had an issue with cars that I swapped from auto's to manuals.

thing with joysey has always been they don't have an "exemption".. you could have a 67 and need smog... the only way around smog here was to reg as QQ at 25 (which Mutt does actually qualify for).. which has it's own whole set of requirements.. no inspection.. but have to be going to a show or shop, mileage maximums, etc...

Forgot to add it never rolled of the showroom with it. It was a zf 6. Still it shouldnt matter. I do believe that one of the few reasons were not seeing many new trucks with manuals. Easier to control emmisions with auto.

Can't you roll.back the odometer? How will anyone know? That's my feelings. Give me qq and try to keep track

well, really the mileage limitations are for the insurance companies, but technically it's in the state requirements too.... BUT, if the po-po pull you over, you need to have a built-in excuse, car show, mechanic shop, etc... pretty easy to get away with, but still, they can bust your balls.. slip up and say "going to work" and you could be in for a decent ticket, or even inpound...

They really don't make it easy for us do they. I'm quick on my toes. So is my.brother who has an 87 iroc with qq plates. But he rarely takes it anywhere substantial. He's also in susex County where they don't bust for that. I feel the Bayville Berkeley guys would be pretty cool. I know one of them. When I showed up.with the k5 on the trailer the day I got it he was with his 5 year old. He said don't you think mommy will let me.get one?? The kid said yes she will!! Haha. He said yeah right. Point is...depends on the town and cop...

yup, don't get pulled over in Pine Beach.... :yikes: my town can be hardarses too, but they dig Mutt, so I'm good...

won't matter after this summer anyway hopefully... august or so should be the last time I have to go to inspection in any of my rigs..... Mutt should pass sniff easy peezy anyway...

Funny, I'm in Sussex too. My town doesn't have a police force, only staties. I've never been pulled over once.

Very cool. When I sold my 87 it was to this tiny good looking girl wearing stilettos from Andover. People said they saw the truck roaming around the county for a while after I sold it. If I found it beat and for sale I'd probably buy it back!

Lol I bought my truck out of andover.... I have seen one witg that color scheme around.

Haha. Always talk about it being a small world. Up there it's definitely a small world. Everyone knows everyone. The pic on the rock with the jeep is above the Franklin trailer park.

I don't know anybody who trailers or doesn't drive around town because it's "not street legal". They only do it because it's hard to live with the shaking or going to work with no doors/top/etc. isn't practical. All you really need are turn signals, seat belts, brake lights, etc. Sure, there are lift laws, but cops don't know them and most CK5ers will keep their rigs lower than that anyway. Tall lifts suck to live with and don't even work well off-road, so we don't see 15" lifts to fit 44's like in 1986. If the cops were going to pester trucks over lifts, it would be the later model "bro" trucks that put on lifts not to fit bigger tires.........but to fit bigger wheels :doah:, since there are just a lot more of them on the road. A 70's or 80's truck is more likely to get pestered over tube/no doors, banged up body and possibly huge tires, more than for being too tall.
