Show Your K10's... Whose left theirs as a 1/2ton?

nice another long bed k10

See reply #1...I've gotten out of several situations with my longbed that the blazers and shortbeds couldn't. There's actually quite a few places it does way better. That being said, I got a shortbed now

Oh, well, I'll turn tighter now...

That is with a 10bolt and a 12 bolt. Now it has a 14FF and a lock right in the front

Here's my K10:

Its an '85 mostly with a '74 bed. 305 HO from an 83 Firebird, SM465, NP208, 10bolts with 4.10s and rear locker on 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs. This truck is also my Daily and has been for almost 3 years... For more info check out my build thread in my sig.

That truck is almost to nice to get get dented and dirty. We gotta get a Mass CK-5 wheeling day set up. Real nice step side:bow:

mines still half ton for now. I plan on being 3/4 by christmas but I dont know yet cause I wanna have disk brakes and a locker in the 14b before I install it. 35s on a half ton rear scares me, I gotta be able to drive it home and dont wanna risk trashing the rear.

Heres my K10 Story Short and to the point. Bought it the fall of my Junior year in highschool. EXTREMELY LIMITED budget. Fixed the body and resealed the T case. Painted it that summer. Finished up interior touchups winter of my senior year. Drove it the Summer after I graduated, took it to college for the fall, spring and summer of my first year in college. Screwed up the flexplate that summer. It sat for about 8 months. Its been at Kerts since...getting BIG TIME rebuilt.

cause it is a cheap truck like mine only one headlight. Mine is a scottsdale and only got a single was a option from 83-87 if I remember right.

'85 k10? really? why don't you have the stacked headlights?

I believe stacked headlights were an option

My 83 K10 Sierra Classic, 85 K5 Silverado and 86 C10 Scottsdale all had quads...and coincidentally all 6.2s lol

I know 10 bolts are junk and should never been put under a truck but mine have yet to be broken but I think the locker/true track give me the traction to keep from beating on them and breaking them. I have broken the 12 bolt in my camaro twice with only 29" tires so the 10s must be OK with some axles and a detroit.

This is my money pit.

I like the cow-like paint... :D;)

Hey Chevy305, If I were you I would Paint them mirrors black. IMO they look kinda out of place

I thought about it when I was digging through the body, and since I had the chrome roll bar they looked better.

Almost.... ;) But thanks :waytogo: besides... too late I already have 2 dents. and a few light scratches, I need to just spend some time to buff them out.

Tom

Thanks! I sent that one in for the CK5 calender. We'll see if it makes the cut...

i've been watching your build since you showed up here. I like how your truck has progressed. Did you paint those wheels two-tone?

Do you have a tach? We have the same drive-train and gearing, but I only have 33s, what kind of rpms are you doing at 60? Mines atleast 3000.

Thanks :waytogo: :D
The wheels are Ion Alloy 171 series. They came painted like that. You can also get them in full polished aluminum or chrome.

Ya I have a tach, normally though, I don't do 60... Either faster or slower. I know that at 3000rpm I am doing about 75mph. I think my 4.10s and 35"s are really great all around gearing. Not to low on the highway, not too high for the street and trails.

Wow its unusaual to see the projects go backwards

Well I better explain myself:D

Im going from 6.2 to a 400 SBC,the hood came off so the Radiator, and motor could come out. The 700R4 is going to be rebuilt also...so I got pulled out. The NP208 came out to get a new speedo gear. I went to 4 inch lift with a Dana 44 and 14FF for durability issues. I used Kerts B52 Kit and the best way to get at the body mounts was to take the Grill out for the time being. The Crappy tires and rims are on it simly at rollers so my expensive wheels and tires I bought dont sit out in the elements.

Trust me when its all put back together...its gonna look REALLY nice...prolly gonna need a fresh coat of paint but thats not a big deal for me. Dad used paint semi Trailers. And I already have a bondo and minute box to use this time(old box has about a 1/2 gallon of bondo on it.)
