Shrunken Ned...

Working on some floor mats..floor and firewall gets pretty hot..have a horn now too..my 150 amp breaker took a crap in the middle of bleeding the water system..so I had to fix that...and then I forgot to put the winch wires back in thier spot and left them resting on the serpentine pullies..caught that just before it did inreversabe damage...

Bled the truck like a stuck pig and it seems to be working..fingers crossed and all that..gonna drive it down and get emissions test in the morning. It's staying kinda cool which is the opposite of what it was doing.

I have a picture for the trophy binder and web page!

Refilled all my propane tanks, got the ORIs charged up..that was a chore cause they were sticking (which is normal). 110 psi in the lowers and 280 psi in the uppers gets me to ride height if anyone is wondering..had to jack the truck up to ride height with the high lift, 2 jack stands and some wood. went for a ride around the block. drives and handles like a slot car...a slot car on cold 42s with 10 lbs of air..forgot how fast the orbital is too, remembered that real quick.....Got back and noticed I have no rear brakes....see I got a bunch of air in steering brake...can't get out with the hand held vacuum bleeder. I blew a wheel cylinder on the passenger rear at some point and it slow leaked over the winter..I replaced it last week but the leak musta crept up to the steering brake...almost took the steering brake out, but then harbor freight and the internet came to the rescue. they have a air powered brake bleeder..So harbor freight in the morning it is. 205 is making a clunking rotating noise in 2 high when you get off the gas. doesn't do it in 4wd. It was half a quart low on fluid.

Let it idle the entire time I was working on stuff (good hour) and then went for the ride. Temp never went above 190 and I put a 16 lb vent-able radiator cap on it.

Today was a #%=÷£ day for sure. Spent all day trying to bleed the rear brakes. Couldn't get them to bleed or hold pressure. Spare you the drama and cut to the chase. Pitted pin hole/ crack in the bottom of the rear half of the master cylinder. Thought the line lock was bad..pulled it..thought the steering brake was bad...pulled it...bled the master at the start and it bled fine. Once it was under pressure it would short cut is all I can figure.

me too..wish I was car smarter sometimes tho..coulda been driving it saturday instead

Not saying this is your problem but this reminds me of;

Way back when I first built the buggy I was using Howe brand brake master cylinders (Manual race car type stuff) and ended up at the point that I carried rebuild kits in my tool box because they would start leaking internally. I fought and fought with rebuilding and getting new, no warranty etc. Then I decided to use a set of Wilwood cylinders, and I'm pretty damn sure at least one of those is still on the buggy today without ever needing rebuilt.

That was one of the first things that I learned there's nothing more expensive than going cheap. You can spend less money on quality parts (sales, buddy deals, right place at the right time) for sure but if your buying parts that are the cheapest of the cheap you're going to end up either replacing them a lot or dealing with issues all the time. When it costs you a few thousand dollars to go on a wheeling trip and you have to fix the $20.00 part because you didn't buy the $40 part is it worth it?

Mine is too but I couldn't find any off wear or anything. Even with the new gears it still is a bit sloppy, but none of the teeth have so much as a nick on them.
